For sake of argument, you're limited to one or the other. Going forward, should ISU be known as a Football or Basketball school? Why?

Does realignment change your perspective or mind?

It's easier to be a basketball school and we have way more tradition in basketball.

But we are so close to becoming a football school, that I'd like us to keep trying for that. If Campbell were to leave, I'd say stop focusing on it. But until then, I think we've got to try.

Much more evident basketball school, with good history, and a basketball program is easier for non-blue-blood schools to recover after bad times than a football program is. We're better equipped for hoops.

I hope it's football. Doesn't mean you can't kick ass in bball but if you're a football school that is how you set yourself up to survive and make money.

Interesting, so far a consensus opinion. Fully agree basketball school, just surprised there haven't been contrary opinions.

EDIT: I say that, hit Save and the poll changes to 1 for Football. Go figure:)

We have more of a national identity as a basketball school, but we're gaining respect as a football school. We can potentially emerge as one of the anchors of the new Big XII.

you double spoke a little. Poll says what are we and you asked what should we be going forward. We are a basketball school but should be a football school going forward.

Neither and Both. We can thoroughly enjoy our programs.

As long as Campbell is here it’s football. If/when he leaves it probably goes back to basketball

One of the things I love about ISU is that we love and support both football and basketball pretty well and equally. We’re honestly one of the few schools in the nation that can say that. Maybe only Michigan, Wisconsin, and Tennessee are “better” than us

Right now a bball school. But if Campbell sticks around that could change. A passionate enough fanbase for both!

Basketball can be more fun IMO, as I much prefer March Madness to CFB's messy bowl season, but from a financial standpoint, it's football all the way. I'd like it if we could keep the healthy balance we have right now though, until the end of time.

I would say today we lean hoops because of success over last 40 years.

But, if what Campbell has done (or close) continues over next decade. Then I would say neither because we could have FB attendance over 65k and basketball around 14k.
