What's the significance of the date on this ISU t-shirt?

Any idea why there's 1865 Iowa State basketball on this t-shirt? This was after Iowa state was founded before this and ISU basketball started wayyy after.

Obviously commemorating the end of the Civil War. College Basketball was a welcome distraction for the fractured country. Some say that College Basketball was the balm to heal the wounds our country sustained during the years of intense fighting.

I thought about the date being UNI but it apparently was started in 1876.

Clearly this shirt is just to confuse the people of Iowa in general. The Iowa State logo, UNI colors and a date that signifies the founding of ANAL at the TOE.

Accurate, the other-other ISU was in fact founded in 1865. We apparently just missed on landing Larry bird if only he was as confused as the screen printer was.
