Camping World Bowl: Game Info Only Thread

ESPN announced the TV & Radio announcers for the game today:

TV: Bob Wischusen,

Bob Wischusen

Originally, Wischusen worked for WFAN as a reporter and update host for the stations sports news flashes that air every twenty minutes. During his time at WFAN he began working on the station's Jets coverage, hosting the pregame, halftime, and postgame shows. When WFAN lost the rights to the Jets after the 1998 season, Wischusen followed the coverage to WABC. In 2002, he became the play-by-play voice for the Jets on the station after Howard David departed the team for a job in Miami. During his time with the Jets he's worked with Dave Jennings and Marty Lyons as his color commentators.

Wischusen began working for ESPN in 2006 as a secondary commentator for college football and basketball, usually calling games from mid-major conferences such as the MAC or WAC. As of 2009, Wischusen has been calling ACC college football regional action on ABC at 3:30(ET) with Brian Griese. For the 2010 college football season, Wischusen was paired with Brian Griese, calling games for the Noon(ET) ESPN2 broadcast. Wischusen is currently calling with Dan Orlovsky.

Dan Orlovsky

QB pick in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL by the Detroit Lions out of Connecticut.
Quarterback with the Detroit Lions (2005, 2008, 2014-2015), Houston Texans (2010), Indianapolis Colts (2011), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-2013).

Dan Orlovksy joined ESPN in 2018, serving as an analyst for college football and NFL coverage. In addition to his role, he is a regular contributor on Get Up! throughout the football season.

I DUN CARE BOUT NO TV BOX SPEAK PEOPLE I MA GON BE AT THA GAME!

(Sorry this is a good thread I just haven't been to a game in a long time and I just finished grading a bunch of papers so I am not in the most stable mental state)

Wischusen has done a number of ISU MBB games, a lot of times with Fraschilla. He's familiar with Iowa State, and ISU fans' reputation.
Franschilla should do the game just in case he needs to call for some "Hilton Magic"! That would be funny. :p

The BEST way is to turn the sound off & listen to the Cyclone broadcast with Walters & Heft !

I've tried that, but the timing is always so far off so IMO this doesn't really work well. (besides, I find it interesting to hear what a national audience is hearing about Iowa State from the TV crew)

They listed the players' swag for the Camping World Bowl

Gift suite includes $400 Best Buy gift card; watch; Herschel backpack with luggage tag

Personally I think the gift card is the way to go.

If you stream the radio broadcast, pending on the streaming service you use, you can pause the radio broadcast and resume it to line up better with te tv broadcast. I used Tune In radio to do this when the Texas game was on the LHN last year. (I too generally just have the tv volume on but didnt want to hear the LHN announcers for this game.)

We have a hotel within a mile of the stadium - is it worth buying a spot in a lot to tailgate or just avoid traffic and tailgate in our hotel lot?

The guy behind one of the most infamously stupid plays in football history?

Then again, I would run out of bounds if Jared Allen was chasing me.

I think that has a lot to do with what is more important to you. If it is simply to tailgate for the sake of tailgate, nothing else, than your hotel . If you instead want to be around the atmosphere of the game....other fans....and the trip to the game in your review mirror, then I'd pay for the stadium lot pkg.

We have a hotel near Universal, but also got a parking pass. I like to have a vehicle there with us for tailgate purposes and so that we can go when/where we want afterwards. I don't like relying on shuttles or Uber before/after big stadium events.
