Pop Songs about Iowa/Iowa Towns

This one is a classic:

I'm pretty sure it is about Brooklyn, IA. I drive past it all the time.

CW McCall has several mentions of Iowa. In Classified he 'was thumbing thru the want ads in the Shelby Country Tribune'...admittedly there might be other Shelby counties, but when you throw in the reference to Nishnabotna, which is also referenced in 4 wheel drive (we went screaming thru the valley where the Nishnabotna flows)

CW was from Council Bluffs, so his songs have a **** ton of Western Iowa references.

"Heads Carolina, Tails California" - Jo Dee Messina

I got people in Boston.
Ain't your daddy still in Des Moines?
We can pack up tomorrow.
Tonight, let's flip a coin

Not proud that I know this.

Turn the Page..."On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha"...that would be Iowa haha

Sioux City and Waterloo are mentioned in Johnny Cash "I've Been Everywhere". So is Spirit Lake but I think there are quite a few towns and lakes named that.
Also "Big River" by Cash mentions Davenport

This is the low hanging fruit:

Hard to believe nobody posted this yet.

That didn't work right.

Hopefully everybody is already a Carbon Leaf fan. But they have a song from a couple years back "Midwestern Girl", that talks about the "Val Air Ballroom out in Western Des Moines" in the second verse, and the chorus is "I.O.W.A now". Nice props from a Richmond, VA band.

Did anybody mention Slipknot? The biggest thing to come out of Des Moines since I-35 was completed:pbiggrin:. On their album "Iowa", they've got a song "515", and "Iowa".
