I know lots of geezers (in my age group) who seem to feel lost since they retired.
Also, lots of them seem to drop dead within a year. The rest of them seem to be volunteering for just about every organization that comes down the pipe. Either that, or they have expensive hobbies, like going to the doctor every other day.
I realize that not every job title conveys the same amount of human dignity, but I'm not sure we wouldn't all still be lazing in a hammock under a banana tree if humans did not feel that the responsibility that comes with work has its own kind of dignity.
