I was going to laugh at your post but the only response so far is from "CycloneDaddy" and I didn't want to mess that up. Just seems right.Maybe the real estate agent was hot and was looking to score.

and I think that's nuts. Marriage is a great choice. Obviously it isn't for everyone, but if two people are in a committed relationship and having kids, buying property together, etc., then I think marriage is a great choice more often than not.I agree with him that it isn't, but that's up to the individual
Better tax bracket means you married someone who makes much less than you, not exactly a great benny. If you both make around 400k or more it’s better to not be married.Tax brackets, potentially employer benefits, borrowing power, etc...
You can purchase property while married to which your spouse has no claim, but you need to get all that **** in writing and have lawyers and notaries involved, almost like a prenup. If he didn't do that first, there isn't much he can do at this point. Just got to pay his ex, get a divorce, learn, and move on.So my buddy has been separated from his wife(not legally) for almost 2 years. His wife actually left him. He bought a place like 1 year ago in Iowa City and is now looking to sell it. His wife never lived there, never paid any equity into the house, and has never even been on the property. How in the **** is she(possibly) legally entitled to some of the money he could potentially get from the a sale in the future. Nobody but the person on the loan should be entitled to that. They had only been married like a year and a half too.
Irrelevant to this conversation no matter what side you are on.Marriage isn't a great choice in modern society. Not blaming women or men. Just don't think people are reliable enough to start a government contract together.
That hardly seems like an argument that will hit home in your average circle of ISU fans. Have you seen how many people walk past under the bridge on gameday?Better tax bracket means you married someone who makes much less than you, not exactly a great benny. Are those people on message boards?Better tax bracket means you married someone who makes much less than you, not exactly a great benny. If you both make around 400k or more it’s better to not be married.
You mean the ones who donate over 10k to the AD who don’t want the RV lot???That hardly seems like an argument that will hit home in your average circle of ISU fans. Have you seen how many people walk past under the bridge on gameday?
I’m sure there are some from both groups. Are those people on message boards?![]()
I don't park in the RV lot, but we walk across the bridge so we don't have to be surrounded by peasant trolls. You mean the ones who donate over 10k to the AD who don’t want the RV lot???
Well the rate of divorce is above 50 percent. People also tend to get petty in divorces and take things to the extreme. There are some people that use it as a meal ticket and never planned to go until death do them part. Infidelity, bad financial behaviors, on and on.What specifically are you saying they aren't reliable about?
I agree that marriage is getting less and less important. I think the first marriage divorce rate is around 40 percent. There are some people who seem to just love weddings and get married quite a bit.Well the rate of divorce is above 50 percent. My daughter just got married, they are looking to buy a house. My son is not married but bought a house. We have several friends who quit their job and stayed home to be with the kids, they own their own homes. The traditional get married, buy a house, have kids, thing is just not really feasible anymore for most people in the modern world. Most Americans need both parents to work to pay the bills, but now when daycare is about the same cost as one of those incomes, you've basically blocked a sizable portion of people from doing that.
My cousin got divorced in less than a year. She is already pregnant with a different guy. She just wanted the wedding cause her father has money.I agree that marriage is getting less and less important. I think the first marriage divorce rate is around 40 percent. My thoughts are if you have been divorced 3 times, you don’t pick the wrong person, the problem is you.
My wife had a roommate before we met. Her roommate got married and divorced in a few weeks. The day after her wedding she had called my wife (or another one of the friends) and asked about this guy whom she apparently had been humping all the up to the wedding. She just couldn’t call off the wedding apparently. My cousin got divorced in less than a year. She is already pregnant with a different guy. She just wanted the wedding cause her father has money.
Edit: Her first marriage. They were in their 30s too. Not like it was some hasty decision. They had been together for years.
Sounds like you scored...LOL
Full transparency, I bought my first Life Insurance policy cause the female agent was someone I was trying to hook up with. It was a good investment for a while.

My mom went to a wedding shower of a family friends kid/grandkid. Shower was weeks before the wedding. Shortly after the shower they got into a fight, called off the wedding and the future bride took all the shower gifts and made a bonfire. My mom was mad since she gave a nice gift to her.
I mean of course you can find examples but households with 2 $400k incomes isn't exactly normal. Quick google says only 2.9% of households have $400k+ total and only 1.5% individuals bring in that much.Better tax bracket means you married someone who makes much less than you, not exactly a great benny.
