***2026-27 College Football (non-ISU) Thread***

We really need to stop talking about the Big 10 like it's some kind of monolith. It has 3-4 of the most well resourced programs in the country, and the best coach in the country (who also has a ton of resources).

Outside of that, it's a bunch of mediocrity being subsidized by the generosity of those power brand revenue generators. The SEC is a little more evenly distributed, but the same is largely true there as well.

I'm not saying that the Big 12 is really beyond mediocre either, but I think a lot of Big 12 programs are doing (much) more for their dollar than most of the Big 10.

Yep, DFL out of P4 but all but 2 of PAC-12 schools are below us. How the F are Cal, Syracuse, Purdue and Rutgers ahead of us?
I don't know the details, but perhaps Cal, Syracuse, Purdue and Rutgers didn't lose their entire coaching staff and entire starting rosters (except for FG kicker)? These rankings are not based on any in-depth analysis. Some guy looks at ISU and thinks, huh, they lost everything. So, bottom of the heap. OK, next team....

The Big 12 is pretty weak in football right now. They're behind the ACC IMO. ISU is predicted to be at the bottom. So yeah. I don't think ISU will be at the bottom, but the Big 12 is still pretty weak in football. Tech's turd in the playoffs didn't help.

I was among many who have thought SEC was getting off easy with the 8 conference/4 non-conference. Now I realize it's even worse w/ 9&3, because it'll be more insular favoritism because "SEC conference schedule is so challenging" and the non-con games most will purge are P4/highish G5 and not the FCS/low-D1 opponents.

If this is accurate/updated, LSU is replacing Arizona State with McNeese for 2029:
