KXNO Sports Fanatics

Iheart is letting go of people all over the country again. Next will be voice tracking from a studio 500 miles away or A.I. Radio is hurting big time. The radio stations in Newton (KCOB and Energy 106.7) and KGRN in Grinnell were shut down (for now) on June 9th by the company that owned them due to "financial difficulties".
What do you mean “for now”? I didn’t realize there was a chance they could come back. Please give me some hope!

KCOB was an absolute shell of itself after the last cuts, but at least they carried the cardinal baseball. Now the only mlb team over the air in central Iowa is the Cubs.

IHeart has been trying to do this to Des Moines and KXNO for a decade now. Difference is they don’t have the lineup and listener support at the level they had years ago so they finally were able to get it done.

Local radio is dying (dead?) and unfortunately, listeners will get all national stuff in markets like Des Moines.
It isn't just local radio that's dead, over the air radio in general is dead, at least as far as I'm concerned. Why listen to radio when there are a million streaming options, many with local content, available?

Pretty sure that’s why CW created Iowa Everywhere. He knew the corporate radio media would axe the KXNO locals fully eventually. I give CW a lot of props for seeing things years ahead of time.

I also agree with post above mine. There’s not going to be enough backlash this time around to get the local folks their jobs back.

Nobody needed a fortune teller to know that this was going to happen. They guys in the business knew KXNO had been on life support for the last 8-10 years.

Travis Justice posted a video last night too that this is the reason he and Ross left when they did because they knew this day was coming.
Wasn’t Ross fired before they made their own version of the show? Maybe Travis saw it coming but it had already smoked Ross

so what local talk radio is left in Des Moines? Besides public radio, wonder if they would ever delve into a sports show a couple times a week.

iHeart sucks.

The only iHeart station I even listen to anymore is 100.3 - and that's rare (so many GD commercials). I'll stick with 93.3

I mean they put sean roberts in charge of the station. The writing was on the wall in big bold black ink. Ross and Travis knew in that instant and bailed. And they practically raised the kid on the radio!

2 pros and a cup of Joe. Pretty meh at best. It's Lavar Aaringgton, Brady Quinn and Joe knox??
I actually don't mind Lavar but his show with Plaxico and T. J. Houshmandzadeh is better because its real, honest insight.

When the Iowa stuff with Chris Doyle was going, I think it was Plax that asked Lavar what he would do, and Lavar didn't mince words with putting his hands on Chris.

I think this is why Travis went out on his own terms.

I really don't catch their now streaming show all that often.

I only tune in after a big ISU win or something newsworthy ISU...they **** around for 20-30 minutes then actually have fair/decent takes for being hawk fans.
