9 games next 8 days. Boyd may be back but tomorrow’s DH means we’ll need someone else and that can’t be Wicks. Not sure we have an internal option.

That is the worst ******* call of all time. Common sense has to prevail

MLB needs to be better. Now the logic is "challenge and see what happens" similar to "sue the guy and see if you win something in the court of law" based on a technicality. The umpire crew, including those who are reviewing, need to be held accountable.

Seems like strange logic to call PCA out. The 2nd base ump didn't call out or safe. So what is PCA to think? I would think PCA knew he was tagged first, but did he know the walk took place?

What if the ump called him out on the steal and PCA starts back to Cubs dugout, would PCA have been out.

I can see if PCA was on 2nd and tried to steal 3rd and being called out because his hand came off the bag.

Yea that didn't look good. Not being able to put weight on it and needing a cart to get off the field. It would be one thing to be a hitter, but as pitcher he might be out a while.

Hope I'm wrong, the Cubs are getting no breaks with their starting staff this season.

I remember once a Cub (Starlin Castro, maybe) being called out on a virtually identical play (steal 2nd on ball four), but in that case he completely slid past the bag and was tagged out.

EDIT: Ronny Cedeno, not Castro

So when was Boyd expected back? Even if he's ready soon- is there a kid with the I-Cubs who can eat innings? And Wicks is not an answer;)

Brown
Imanaga
Rea
Assad
Boyd??

I really think we need to make a trade for a two or three range starter. Even before deadline. Not sure we keep on surviving till August.

Unfortunately I think Wicks will be back up until Boyd is back. There really isnt anyone else left unless you go out and make a minor trade or give someone not currently on the 40 man a look.

Maybe you give Will Sanders a chance? Can't be any worse than Wicks.

You just feel awful for Brandon Birdsell. Had he not gotten hurt, he'd have had a really long leash to establish himself.

Yeah both him and Wiggins going into the season I was hoping could be counted of for some rotation depth if the injuries piled up like they have now. Sanders and maybe even Charlie Barnes could be options too. Neither are on the 40 man roster, Sanders if you added him could then be optioned back but Barnes is 30 and would have to be DFA.

The other starting pitching options in Iowa right now is really sad:

Noland 12 starts 6.19 ERA
Wicks 11 starts 6.64 ERA
Campbell 9 starts 7.85 ERA
Blach 7 starts 6.75 ERA
Nikhazy 6 starts 8.90 ERA
Velasquez 6 starts 6.15 ERA
