Wasn't he with Heather for like a Week and left? Or did he leave right before they were suppose to start a show?
They announced he and Heather were going to be co-hosts for a show then Ken left right before it was supposed to start. Pretty sure Heather "called in sick" the day that show was supposed to start too.

Haha I was at Down Under in Clive getting drinks one night and I can hear this dude talking at the door to his lady friend. I knew right away but sure as sh!t it was Jimmy B. I was getting beers at the bar and made a "refreshment stand" reference and he gave me his traditional har har har "you got that right pal" line. Dude for real talks and sounds in person like he does on the air, it's not an act, he's just goofy.
I think he did play by play for the Barnstormers for at least 1 or more seasons too when he was in Des Moines. I know some here didn't like him but I found him pretty entertaining and he sure could yank Ken's chains at times too.

He did some NBA play by play a long time ago too and had some interesting stories including 1 about Wilt Chamberlain too. I think that story is somewhere in this podcast toward the end.

Jim Brinson: Broadcast veteran / play-by-play man for Michael Jo…

Keith Murphy always did a Jimmy B impersonation talking about Wilt's Golden Toilet.

I'm guessing it will be cordial with it being Miller's second to last show but Jamie & Ken haven't been each other's biggest fan to say the least.

Yeah, when Ken was announcing the upcoming Pollard interview last week he said he reached out to Jamie saying "I come in peace", and that he thanked him for being a big part of ISU's relevance the past couple decades. I'm guessing they'll act like they're old pals.

Ha, yeah he drove Ken nuts at times. Jimmy B did have some funny stories every once in awhile though.
Never understood what Ken did to deserve his fate working alongside Marty Tirrell, Jimmy B, Matt Perrault, Heather, maybe Cotlar? The list goes on.

Although he is a douche, people at least listened and reacted when Perrault was on which is more than you can say for pretty much every KXNO show now. Speaking of, isn't he doing MMA or something now?

Cotlar was a decent man and didn't do a bad job (rest his soul)
There were folks here that had their criticism/dislikes for Cotlar when he was on the air, but I bet looking back now and compare his show then to what we have for shows now a lot more people probably would prefer Cotlar. Like Ken he had a lot of friends in the sports industry and had a lot of regular guest segments. It was a shame that he fell victim to Marty's antics as it was pretty well known that he and Marty did not get along. Cotlar's producer at the time was Geoff Conn who left the mic hot when Marty stormed in after Cotlar's show and dropped the infamous F bombs on air that got all 3 of them fired.

Does anyone still have that? My recollection is that it was Marty completely showing his ass while Cotman came off the same way he always did.

In hindsight, I miss his passion for a totally niche topic (Drake hoops) that I've come to miss in this era of constantly marginalizing sports niches for their lack of widespread appeal.

I don't know if the audio is still out there on the web somwhere but here was the thread on the incident at the time. If I remember Marty stormed into the studio right as they were signing off and Conn left the mic on while the commercial break started and you could hear Marty dropping F bombs at Larry. Pretty sure Conn left that mic on intentionally thinking that would be the end of Marty but didn't realize how that would also be their own demise as he was the one running the soundboard at the time so letting that go out over the air was their responsibility as well.

Update: Cotlar, Conn, AND Tirrell all fired from KXNO | CycloneFanatic: The Internet's most popular site for fans of the Iowa State Cyclones

I don't think Cotlar was a bad guy at all, just vanilla ice cream-ish on the radio. I don't think many people ever had a bad word to say about him other than just being a little bland.

I'm pretty sure Cotlar had Rick Pitino on once, and asked what he thought of the new Drake men's b-ball coach (I can't remember the name). Pitino said he had no idea who Larry was talking about. Pretty funny.

I don't listen much, but I've always liked Ken so I've been listening in today. I loved the story about Trent talking about Marty saying "you're going to be our new producer" and Trent quitting his job to be the new producer. Before Trent even finished the story, Ken said "Oh, Jesus..."
