Project Cars/Trucks

It's definitely not going to hurt anything. I just haven't had much luck with that stuff myself.
After looking back at it again, I think I could get a kit to get off the scuffs alright, but the scratches look and feel deep. Now I'm on considering a couple body shops around Ankeny to get an estimate from. It's just a matter of do I get something to remove the rest of the lighter stuff around it before doing so.

I'm surprised thread this hasn't got more traction. I'll post mine up. I bought this 1969 Mach 1 Mustang in 2005. It's an original 390 big block car. Was working on it pretty steady before I got married but didn't have a place of my own to work on it so it sat in my grandparents shed and I was driving 3 hours down there about twice a month to work on it. Then I got married and started going once a month. Then I had my first son and it turned into once every 2-3 months. Then we had our second son and it turned into never. Fast forward to last fall and the big kid is off in college and the youngest isn't super involved in extracurriculars so I have some free time again and a garage big enough for a project. So I brought it home in October and been chipping away at it all winter. Since I got it home I've put all new brake lines on it, got the fuel tank installed, put in a hydraulic clutch master cylinder and got the heater box all cleaned up and ready to go in. Next up is to get a brake booster so the master cylinder can go in and I'll have functioning brakes. Currently I'm on the hunt for a good 390 to start a build with, they're getting hard to find because all the guys who were into FE series big blocks are dying off. I thought I had a line on one yesterday actually, found a guy in town who died and his son was selling off his hoard. Was getting ready to go look at a couple complete engines when he messaged and said somebody bought the whole stash of engines and parts our from under me.

This was my father in law’s truck. 1973 F100 with a 390 big block. It was already in decent shape. I fixed a few things and added the wheels. Currently working on dual exhaust and Holley Sniper EFI. Hope to have it wrapped up in a week or two. The exhaust on the big block sounds so good.

Good luck finding one. Facebook groups usually have decent advice.

I have a 1970 date 390 block, standard bore but not crack checked. Very cheap if you want it. Have heads, four v intake. Rods etc.

I have a soft spot for a 390. My grandparents had a 64 Galaxy convertible with one and I have a lot of good memories of that car. My great grandpa also had a 64 Galaxy 4-door with the 390 he drove me to school in every day in elementary school.

I might be interested in that. The cracks are the concern with them. Those FE engines all really like to form cracks in the lifter valley.

If you ever make it up to Spencer, Storm Lake area take a look it's a bare cleaned block and I'm tired of tripping on it.

We didn’t know what we had until we lost it.
Truth. The birth of the internet was a wild time.

And you guys better tell us if you end up selling/buying. It's bad enough we have to wait a month to find out, you better give us resolution. This is what the offseason is all about.

If I end up getting it I'll post pictures.

Just drove this car home yesterday. 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. 3.5 years in the making. It was my grandfather’s car. It’s 98% done. I need to finish up some dash wiring, the heater, the speedometer, the headlights don’t switch to bright, the horn doesn’t work. The guy following me home said I got up to 52mph so don’t take this car if you’re in a hurry. LoL! It is Cyclone red!! We used the color codes off cyclones.com for the paint.
Worked with a guy that had a yellow one, probably still has it.

He built a little garden shed from a Menards kit to park it in!

The current back yard lawn ornament. 3rd vehicle with no parking spot up front with a work truck in the mix. Needs brakes all around and battery mainly. But eventually if I get room to work on it will be a full brake upgrade, 1st gen Colorado 2 piston brakes fit these with a bit of work. A small lift with Jeep Grand Cherokee springs. And maybe swap the oil burner 3.5l V6 for a 4.8l GM V8. Runs with a battery charge currently though.

The color scheme reminds me of the Ford Eddie Bauer editions.

I would kill to find a clean Isuzu again. I had a 95 Rodeo that we took down on the trails by the river near Van Meter constantly. It spent about 8 hours one night stuck in the sand and enough people showed up to have their shot at pulling it out that it turned into a giant bonfire/party on the sand bar. Good times.

This one came out of Texas at some point. So is mostly rust free, though bunch of small hail dents. Have taken it down a few level Bs back when I got it though.
