Fortunately it's June 16, while I don't expect any big trades over the next 2-3 weeks, Hoyer could definitely trade for a bench piece. The problem with sending Mo down is whoever you bring up makes you worse.
Alcantara is never going to put it together, Triantos has fallen off a cliff, Johnathan Long is proving last year was a fluke, Kingery and Cowles aren't on the 40 and neither one of them are even as good as Nicky Lopez.
Maybe you look at Justin Dean but he's not going to get any time in the outfield so why bother?
This team kind of is what it is.
At this pace we’ll be sellers. There’s no possible way to add enough pitching to contend.Fortunately it's June 16, while I don't expect any big trades over the next 2-3 weeks, Hoyer could definitely trade for a bench piece.
Moises is 12-95 in May/Jun or .126BA. He's been better in Jun with a .240BA but only has 27 PA. And his ability to play the field limits the Cubs as late inning PH.
The other player scuffling after hot start is Conforto. He's hitting .194 in May/Jun.
So while it would be great if either of those guys find their stroke over the next few weeks. Seems like Hoyer may need to address the bench in the trade market.
there just doesn't seem to be a fire this year . its like they really don't like each other or the chemistry is off.The Veteran position players are killing this season. They just act like “oh will get to our normal stats and start playing better”. There is no fire. This team is still awful with RISP 1-19 in the series vs a bad Rockies team. Pathetic. Don’t blame the pitching they are all hurt.
Oh absolutely. If we are still hovering around .500 we will either sell or just not add anything major. At this pace we’ll be sellers. There’s no possible way to add enough pitching to contend.

Apparently Cabrera departures was a hand cramp. Hope that is accurate but I’d guess we add an inning eater stater or two. Currently Wicks is the next man in and we’ve seen what a disaster that is.Oh absolutely. If we are still hovering around .500 we will either sell or just not add anything major.
Kaplan sums things up pretty well
Yeah, that's not happening. It's fan fantasy which is where Kaplan lives. This needs to come from the FO. Get Dansby to the point he’s demanding a trade. Sure we’re paying the bulk of what remains but any return is a plus
I agree, Swanson is going nowhere and even if you could you'd eat a bulk of his contract and get little in return. Same for a lot of the same guys that some keep saying the Cubs need to trade. If they are struggling on this roster what makes you think another team wants to take them on along with the contract money and some prospects in return.Yeah, that's not happening. It's fan fantasy which is where Kaplan lives.
Dansby is EXTREMELY well liked and well thought of across the league and you have to have the ability to sign free agents in the future.
Frankly, there's nothing worth selling because of how Jed put this together. There's no one that is going to bring significant return and the two guys that might have value (Happ and Suzuki) have full NTCs with no indication they're willing to waive them.
Not so fast who exactly are you giving QO to?Just hold your assets and let your FA walk and get Comp picks and draft pitching. Just a disappointing team that is frustrating to watch. Starts with the Front Office/Ownership and the Veterans on this team. Like I have said in the past the
I’m not saying it will happen but it’s the only way it could happen.Yeah, that's not happening. It's fan fantasy which is where Kaplan lives.
