Texas Tech 10 Million Dollar Portal Season

Let them go. They are only relevant now because of their sugar daddy. Until the last 2 years they weren't even thought about by anyone outside of Lubbuck.
Completely cut them loose. If they want to play hardball by getting their state's attorney general to force how the B12 and NCAA conduct business, forget it. They are trying to bully everyone because they have money and evidently state backing. If all the schools start acting like that then everything is done for. Kick them out.

Easier for the schools to do this one their own rather then have a stated policy and get sued on it.
IMO they never seriously planned to do anything and just said they considered it for clout.

In a potential lawsuit, Tech would have to prove some sort of damages for this policy. As long as the Big 10 didn't make anyone cancel existing contracts with TTU, I don't know what damages they could prove.

When the Big 12 inevitably backs down from doing anything, the Big 10 and SEC are going to act like they would do something different if it was their conference.
Don't think it's inevitable the Big 12 will back down and not do anything. It's hard to believe, but a district court judge has ruled that a grown man who clearly violated the rule cannot because punished because the punishment will be harmful to him. Seems unlikely this ruling will be upheld.

Tech should understand the Big 12 has lawyers, too.

Anything any entity / conference / university...etc says is more or less a virtue signal at this point.

You cannot break a preexisting contract because the other party is complying with a lawful court order. There is nothing new to contract law here that would provide a valid legal argument for these other entities to succeed in their goal.

Lets say the CFP did prevent Tech from playing it. Tech would sue, and the CFP loses. Then the court gets to set a number at the "losses" Tech was forced to absorb due to the CFPs unlawful actions. Given that the CFP prevented what could be a national championship run, the damages the CFP will be required to pay could be very substantial, likely in the millions.

I don't really care about "better position" but revenue wise ISU is better than it ever has been.
True but that's somewhat natural if you're in a successful business. Maybe a better question is whether Iowa state is as good or better off than the people that have left the conference, at least so much as revenue?

Once again, I don't care about that. I like the sports competition, which imo we are doing well at. I don't care about the **** contests of "I have more money", "my conference is better than yours" etc.

Honestly and personally I prefer others who just want to play the sports by the set rules and not all the blowhards trying to prove something. I am fine with with the blowhards going off on their own so I don't have to pay attention to them.

Sure, but I think we can both agree that if the goal is to be competitive at the highest level then money is pretty highly important in our society and that's got nothing to do with your or my opinion on it.

I guess my point is because I was originally referencing Brett Yormark cutting Texas Tech loose, is that going to be a net positive or a negative for your conference?

They wouldn’t have gotten the Big 12 invite 30 years ago if it weren’t for Ma Richards.

Your billionaire amorality stance is distorting rational thought from your end.

TT has not officially committed to actually playing him via the Hocutt statement so the B12 taking action at this point would be likely premature although they are providing threats behind closed doors if he does actually play.

And then there is this:

Weekly press conference before Houston game.
McQuire: "Sorsby's addiction is cured! It's a miracle!" "He will start against Houston."

Are you thinking of Baylor? TTU was the obvious third choice after UT and A&M.
Only UT and aggy were preferred choices.

Gov Ann Richards got BU added and Lt Gov Bob Bullock got Tech added. Both threatened to cut state funding to UT and aggy if those two didn't get in.

I've always heard the story as being they were set on those 3 and it was a battle for the 4th spot that Ma Richards tipped towards Baylor over Houston.
Could be, but I always remember UT approaching with the idea of 10 and keeping the OU and Nebraska rivalry which would get eliminated when they went to 12.
