Texas Tech 10 Million Dollar Portal Season

They (the NCAA) needs to just put out a nationwide memo that reads

"In light of our member institutions who voluntarily joined the NCAA not wanting to abide by the rules they agreed to when they voluntarily joined the organization, effective immediately the NCAA will not be enforcing ANY of the rules the member institutions voluntarily agreed to."

I guarantee something would be done within a month of that statement.
Gotta be more than that. The schools already know today that there aren't real rules. It's just a matter of who is willing push buttons first.

The real threat is disbanding the sports entirely. The only sport that NCAA doesn't run tournaments and championships in is D1 football. It does run them for everything else. Disband March Madness, disband all other titles and tournaments for all other sports. No more FCS playoffs, no more basketball titles, volleyball, wrestling, nothing. You can still have sports and teams, but you're all competing for nothing. That will beget change.

Can NCAA say we are going to appeal & if we win, we are going to punish TT for any game Soresby played in?
Actually, the NCAA can and should say we’ve ruled him ineligible and the courts have ruled he can play. But, we the NCAA can rule any game he participates in will be vacated and TT you can choose to field him at your own peril. No CFP no wins in any game he participates in. Let TT file suit and see if the courts will rule that the NCAa isn’t allowed to sanction member institutions for fielding g ineligible athletes…

I would not be betting on college athletics any time soon. The precedent that was just set is utterly pathetic to put it mildly. Go ahead bet on your own games, just sue and retain your eligibility with no ramifications.

The problem with that is that the games still happened and all the checks still cleared. Does anybody really think Louisville didn't win the national title in 2013 because they vacated it?

Vacating wins is literally the dumbest 'punishment' of all time and does nothing at all to deter other schools from cheating.

I think they should rule any games vacated as soon as he steps on the field, no waiting till after the season. He is ineligible, the injunction allows him to remain, but it doesn’t preclude the NCAA to rule in real time…no need to vacate later but instantaneously. New precedent. Meaning even if they play and go undefeated they get no CFP and no wins.

Imagine coaches interviews getting blown out going into the locker room:

Brad: "and we go down to Tracy Wolfson with the coach - Tracy?"
Tracy: "thanks Brad, here with Dabo Swinney as the Tigers down going into half, what adjustments is your team going to make?"
Dabo: "Our boys are betting the points! Looking forward to the other side running it up after the break, courtesy of DraftKings!"

I also wonder if it's possible for the NCAA to say "fine, he can play, but you wont be allowed into the play off or bowl games".

Come to think of it. Would that be a way to enforce NIL salary cap? Teams can pay players as much as they want, but if anyone pays more than $21M, they wont be allowed into the playoff. Individual player compensation isn't being directly restricted at that point.

Well we'll know what's going on when a ball carrier magically falls over despite a clear lane or open field.

The real question: will it still even be called point shaving?

I don't think he is saying to "vacate" the wins, I think he is saying that you don't let them in the post season because they used an ineligible player.

Problem is the NCAA doesn’t control the playoffs.
