Chris Williams and Brent Blum go position-by-position to rank Iowa State’s roster in terms of comfortability. Plus, the guys analyze the first quarterback commitment of the Jimmy Rogers era. All presented by Mechdyne.

Jalen Raynor completed 66.5 percent of his passes last fall for some 3300 yards.

The biggest knock on Jaylen is that the percentages drop way down beyond 10 yards. Exited to see what this staff can do with him. Hoping they use his legs a lot.

The primary concern IMO with Raynor is that he took 99& of his snaps last season from the gun IIRC so the adjustment to under center snaps could be challenging for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see more gun than previously predicted to make him and the offense more productive, especially if Flora and Petteway get the vast majority of carries. Those two would also appear to be more suited for a shotgun spread than Roehl’s preferred pro power sets. The Allah injury and the uncertainty with Peppers and Francois and ther injury recoveries does make the RB situation dicey.

Regarding the discussion on Holllingshead, it is my understanding last season was his first at QB after being converted from TE which wasn’t mentioned on the pod. He is certainly a work in progress as a B12 QB but it appears the physical and leadership tools are there.

Pretty good job on "comfortability" rankings. I am a bit more comfortable with the RB, mostly because Pettway and Flora give us true home run hitters and I think Easton Miller [edit] (walkon) and the late transfer both give power capability. I would rate, based on Breece Hall being a 10 in confidence rating, a 4. Last year's group was a 7.5. There is no doubt healthy Allah, Francois, and Peppers would lift all of that.

Easton Miller is the walkon running back. Easton Dean was the QB that converted to TE from a few years ago that Campbell said had the highest potential of any TE he's coached

Was hoping to learn more inside info about this new Jimmy Rogers team. Blum’s comment that Schlimgen will be the best player on the Defense was interesting. Hopefully the depth at RB is not as bleak as portrayed especially if Peppers is back.
