Red-hot Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie?

New to me and the best pie I can recall, with ice cream OMG. My wife got it from a friend who was helping with some old-fashioned bake sale. As the sale ended her friend made an offer for some remaining goods. Fortunately, the pie was one of the lot and we had no idea who baked it except a small label stating:"Red-hot Strawberry Rhubarb-made with strawberry, rhubarb, and cinnamon candy red-hots." Crust was great, too.

Our neighbor is always gifting us rhubarb and if I had the recipe, I'd make it. Anyone heard of this, I see online recipes but afraid they may be different. Good recipe wanted or I'll go with my best guess.

Strawberry rhubarb is the best pie and/or crisp. Never had the hot version though, not sure I want to either.
Cinnamon candies you dissolve in hot water and mix into filling. The Strawberry, rhubard, cinnamon candy are an amazing interplay of flavor. Its not hot at all just cinnamon and sweet.

Never heard of it. I love strawberry rhubarb pie and red hots are great. Keep us posted on your research and trials. I’m intrigued.

My mom used to make a delicious rhubarb strawberry pie from her own garden. She also made a rhubarb cream pie that had a custard like filling. One of my favorite pies that she made that would seem unlikely because it sounds horrible, is a raisin cream pie. I hate raisins in almost anything, but she made it with a pudding-like filling with meringue on top. It was almost a Bavarian cream-like filling.

When we were kids, we always looked forward to the days she baked pies because she would always cut the leftover dough into strips, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over them and bake them along with the pies. Us kids would fight over those crust strips.
 
Thanks ,maybe "redhots" have faded as candy. You caught that posters were thinking Mexican hot pepper Strawberry rhubarb pie. EEEEK!
My wife wanted to make a jello salad that her mom used to make for the holidays. I searched half a dozen stores to find the cinnamon red hots. HyVee, ALDI, and Fareway did not have them. I had to break down and go to Walmart. My view is strawberries ruin good rhubarb but my wife would want to try it.
