*** 2026 Tennis Thread ***

Even the objectively top-tier Americans seem to suck on clay, and the first thing my dumb brain goes to is that they probably didn't play on it much growing up. Now, I could be flat out wrong, and I recognize that if you're a prodigy it's not a huge lift to learn how to play on it. But, yeah, too bad they're struggling
I think that's a big part of it. Even when America was dominant in tennis they rarely won big on the dirt. 3 American men have won the French

Any guesses to mens final at this point? Whoever reaches final in top half would of been shocking before tournament started

I was somewhat surprised he came out for the 5th set other than the fact that he is a competitor at the highest level.
I just saw a story where Sinner said he woke up yesterday and wasn't feeling well and later on the court felt dizzy and wanted to vomit.

I think it's Djokovic's to lose, though Fonseca is showing life right now... In the top half I would say FAA, maybe the winner of Cobolli vs. Tien as a dark horse. (Full disclosure, I don't follow the indoor season nor the tournaments between the Australian and Roland-Garros, so have no idea who Cobolli is. But he's the 10 seed I guess.) Not because FAA is the highest remaining seed in the top, but because his game is so big that what he lacks in consistency may not bite him with no beasts still standing that he has to go through to reach the final

The Paul match has the potential to be the best of the tournament, hopefully he plays well

I saw something about this yesterday afternoon as well. Maybe I was too harsh and he was just sick, though dehydration from or training too hard the day before aren't the excuses that a virus would be

I don't like Felix's mental makeup. He should be more accomplished at this stage imo. Maybe coming through a tough match that he typically loses yesterday helps him but I have a hard time picking him in final. Having said that there's nobody I love. I'll take the guy who's been to the late stages though it's not his surface. Berrettini. I was impressed with Collignon yesterday watching him vs shelton but don't know enough about him to pick him. On bottom which is much tougher side of the draw I'm going to say zverev finally gets it done. Goes to Final and goes onto win it. If it's not now I truly don't think it'll ever happen.

Wow! Tommy Paul loses up 2 sets to 0.
Last game was up 40 love and then gave up 5 straight points. Ouch that has to hurt!

This is one of best first week's of a major I remember so many great matches and upsets. Matches feel more important with the top 2 out

Coco Gauff, last year's French Open Champ, knocked out in 3 sets.
Do you think it's unrealistic for me to say I expected her to be even better or have more slams by now? My expectations was that she'd become swiatek but different style when she broke onto the scene at 15

I was thinking the same thing.
