Team seems to be broken. Really tough to follow. Was the fluke the two ten win streaks, or this losing streak?

I heard Jesse Rogers say this on Chicago radio and I think he's probably right. We caught some teams that were probably playing at their worst at that time (Phillies (twice), Mets, Arizona) & now teams catching us at hopefully our worst. That said this current pitching staff and the streaky hitting is not a formula for a serious team as the season goes on.

Not sure why they did not call up Assad over Wicks unless maybe Wicks is just going to be up for a bit to fill some bullpen innings then Assad will come up when needed to take Caberra's next start. I've seen enough of Wicks by now to know he's probably will get knocked around some if he has to make some starts in Chicago.

Crazy just how many pitchers have been injured already this season. It's too bad Wiggins has been hurt as this would have been a good time to give him a few starts.

My guess is Boyd is close to return. Give Wicks a shot maybe he does well and ups his trade value.

Happ in 2 spot is a choice. Guess maybe being back home in Pittsburgh will get him going. Also is Alcantara just going to sit on the bench?

We are not in a position to trade any pitching, let alone any possible starting pitching.
Wicks is still a prospect of sorts. He’s the type of guy that could be packaged for a top of the rotation guy with one of our top prospects if he shows he can get big league hitters out.

Wicks is not even a top 30 ranked prospect in our own organization anymore. He turns 27 in September, hardly consider him a prospect anymore. Sure maybe you throw him into a deal that involves one of our top prospects but he's not a guy that someone is going to demand be in any trade involving a meaningful piece comin to Chicago. He also has not been able to stay healthy for lengthy stretches and when he has been healthy the results in Chicago have not been good. In 95 big league innings including 17 starts opposing hitters have hit a slash of .291/.347/.830 against him.

If the Cubs are going to trade for meaningful starting pitching help the prospect price is going to be costly. Right now I just hope the Cubs can right things and start rolling of a streak of series wins to get back into contention. Only 2.5 games back from the division despite this funk and half a game up on the final wild card spot but need things to be trending in the right direction over the next month if they want to be in position to be serious buyers at the deadline. Getting some of our own guys healthy will help as well.

Swanson is just totally lost at the plate. There is so much off with his swing at this point I don't even know where you start fixing that. Can't hit anything off speed, way behind any fastball. Just major issues.

I blame the coaching. Swinging as hard as you can and trying to pull everything like all his teammates also do is obviously the plan for hitting.

Season long tendency… the offense consistently scores the minimum amount of runs per chance, even during the win streaks. But now they are also giving up big numbers on low chances to the opposition. Which is a bad combination.

Hope we didn’t just give up the winning home run to a .144 hitter. We going to score more than one run today?

His swing is just so rigid- all upper body. Looks like a mummy swinging.

Solid fielder, but not sure what Cubs can do with a .190 hitter who makes close to $30M AAV though something like 2029.

Guess Cubs gotta hope Mallory gets traded & Dansby waives NTC;)
