Audi Crooks to Transfer

People grouse about Crooks having the freedom to come in or out of the game. Why? She knew when she needed a blow. That freedom really came down to her letting the staff know she needed to come out and being able to say I’m ready to go back in. Seems pretty smart to me instead of the coaches having to constantly keep track of her.

i just wonder how many players on the new team will be gone before the start of 2028 season. It is time for Jamie to pull up his big boy pants and set and end date for this clown show. My suggestion would be the Fairfield coach. She does more with less and has the talent to recruit in the Big 12.
Set your sights lower for when the time comes. Iowa State is not an attractive job right now with way too few resources. Fairfield coach turned down the Virginia job which is probably top 10-15 resourced. I’d throw the Green Bay coach as highly unlikely right now too

That brings up the question how attractive do we want the WBB program to be? It runs in the red every yr. I'd be perfectly fine with paying a coach 3-400,000 and applying 50K/player NIL let the chips fall where they may. I'm guessing we would end up around .500 most yrs. Why allocate scarce resources on a money loser? Take the savings and apply them to MBB and FB.

Bill's big claim to fame is making the tourney most yrs, we might not make the tourney as often but with the expanded field heck that might not even change. On the women's side no one outside of the top 10 (5) have a shot at the natty anyway. Why not allocate our resources where they will be the most utilized?

I definitely think in this new era, you need to consider that for sure.

TJ told a very talented transfer from Auburn to leave before a season a few years back because he didn’t buy into what was expected.

Edit: he was from Ole Miss not Auburn
Not sure what player you are speaking of. There were Prohm players that left because they didn't fit TJ's style.

Audi & Bill is different. Bill recruited Audi to Iowa State, knowing her limitations from a quickness & agility perspective.

And Audi is a unique athlete, most women her size aren't athletically or basketball skill able to play at a high, high D1 level.

Its sad that some Cyclone fans feel the need to tear down Audi once she left ISU.

You keep commenting that Bill treated Audi differently. And in some way it was horribly wrong. Give specific examples- season, games, etc.

So what if Bill allowed Audi to check herself back in. I've seen star players do that at HS, college and pro levels. Coach tells player when they come out to get a breath and when rested go back in when ready. To say Bill deferred to Audi on this is wrong. There was a game this season when Alisa was in, ISU went on a run, Audi went to check-in, but Bill told her to sit down. Guess I'd prefer my "lazy" superstar being eager to get back in.

I've also seen the posts where people are critical of Audi not running sprints in practice. Audi had a knee injury the 2nd half of 2024/25 season. And at her size, I bet sprinting isn't the best on her knees. So why not ease the strain on her knees by allowing her to ride an exercise bike. I would guess the ISU training staff suggested that approach.

To say prior ISU coaches didn't favor players is wrong. Fred took a different approach with star players in practice and off-court. Very much an NBA mentality. But the deal was players needed to bring it on game day. Same goes for TJ and Tamin Lipsey regarding practice action because of nagging injuries. Again prioritizing ability to play games over getting 100% in practice.

Just to throw some water on the fire of the locker room issues that were supposedly happening last year with this team. According to social media it appears several members of last years team including some that are staying, are vacationing down in Turks and Caicos together.

Its the bench and role players, pretty sure none of the big 3 are down there. in general just because you like each other off the court doesn’t mean you like playing together

There was a locker room problem in recent years caused by a player. If you want some public evidence of that, as others have pointed out, none of her former teammates reposted or congratulated her when she announced where she was going (unlike what happened with everyone else). A less public piece of evidence, after the Maryland visit Brenda called Bill and was essentially dumbfounded, not in a good way.

Bill is ultimately responsible for handling personalities and egos, but that job couldn’t have been harder recently.

Bill was also an enabler. When you don't hold one player to the same standard as the rest the, WTF did Bill think was going to happen?

This is absolutely where the blame is for Bill. If half the things I’ve heard she said to other people in and around the program are true, Bill should have drawn a line in the sand a long time ago instead of falling of the sword time and time again.
