New guys coming in: Leon Bond III (Northern Iowa), Jaquan Johnson (Bradley), Taj Manning (Kansas State), Ryan Prather Jr. (Robert Morris), and Tre Singleton (Northwestern). They join returning contributors Killyan Toure, Jamarion Batemon, Blake Buchanan, and Dominykas Pleta. Who has the biggest impact on the team next year? Any thoughts? I am going with Toure. I think he will lead the team at point guard and everything will run thru him.

Batemon. I imagine the staff will give him the "Milan" treatment, meaning they will tell him there's no bad shot he can take. And they will want him to extend his range. Having a player who can make a high percentage of deep three's opens the court for everyone else.

But I think Pleta will have the biggest growth next year, He was a late arrival to Ames due to his visa. This will be his first full off season with this staff. I think he will make a big jump in productivity next season

And another name not mentioned is Xzavion Mitchell. He took a redshirt last year, but is a 4* recruit from Oshkosh. I'm curious to see if he can break into the rotation

At this time this team looks extremely deep.

Overall Toure. Primary guard defender and primary ball handler will put him in action every play that he is on the floor.

Of the new guys, Bond has the highest upside this coming year imo, unless Singleton develops faster than expected.

Jackson Kiss is my answer. I think with Jefferson and Momcilovich gone, there's a spot on the team for a PF/SF type, which I think is what Kiss can be. I'm not at all convinced that the two PF transfers will make much of an impact. I was going to go with Wiggins, but there's some competition at the shooting guard spot that I think will preclude him from seeing much time on the floor.

Definitely Toure. I think he will improve offensively and will do a good job running the offense. Johnson could be a huge contributor as well but the thing that worries me with him is that he can be a bit of a ball hog at times and I'm not sure he will be as effective driving to the hole in the Big 12. His quickness will be an advantage though so we will see how he does.

Toure is a given.

Batemon I think will embrace more of the scoring load.

Pleta gets more minutes and has more impact overall, especially on offense.

For transfers, Singleton I think makes the most noticeable impact, although not the only impact.

I'm not sure how to gauge the incoming freshmen/returners who weren't in rotation.

The interesting thing about this thread is there are multiple players listed. I think that means we just have a lot of good capable players. The guy that boxes out well, takes charges, gets steals, defends like a dog, does all the dirty work, basically like Nate, will be the most impactful and needed role on the team next year. Bond is athletic enough and versatile enough to be that guy.

This prediction didn't stand the test of time, even though it's less than a week old.
