TJ signs 10 year extension

I don't know that it says anything in particular.

Jamie has typically operated on a 'buy low and pay more when they achieve success' philosophy of hiring and pay. We haven't really gone out and made big splash hires, other than Chizik.

We happen to have just hired the football coach so it'd be expected to be low, and TJ has achieved a ton of success, so he'd be at the point where pollard would pay high.

To be honest, we hired TJ at a discount based on financial circumstances for the university at the time, and I doubted we would ever get to true market value for him. But we did.

What's to stop a University from paying a coach $20M/year, then have the coach turn around and give like $15M of that to funding his roster?

This is a great question. No one benefits more from a successful team than the coach. It is very much in his interest to help fund the program.

That seems incredibly inefficient based what everyone touching the money would have to pay on taxes alone
