JTS Improvements - Want More

Yeah I read that as they're taking over security/parking/management of all events within the 'Iowa State Center', which includes JTS & Hilton. I know it specifically mentions concerts, but it also says they'll manage parking services for "all Iowa State Center live events" - aren't games 'live' events? Probably just a misunderstanding on my part, which is disappointing cause they obviously need help on gamedays.
Parking and concessions both moved to a new contract starting on April 1. Levy is no longer in charge of concessions, and Best no longer handles parking. OVG won the contract for both, which includes parking and concessions at JTS and Hilton (games and all other events). CSC won the security contract, so expect changes when entering JTS and Hilton.

Oak View Group should bring major improvements to concessions. I know there are still some limitations in terms of space and food prep facilities, but they should be able to improve the process. They have experience with grab and go type systems.

They've used AiFi in venues they do concessions for. I'm not sure that is possible to build out at either Hilton or Jack Trice, but if we ever did a remodel or expansion I'm pretty sure it would be added.

This won't change much as they will still have the same employee pool (i.e. students and student clubs).

OVG will not use students or student clubs to run the concessions. They will use their people who work at the Casey's Center and hire staff for Hilton and JTS, and it will be the same for parking. If they use students, they will be hired employees of OVG.

Part of the reason ISU changed vendors was once they start hosting boys state basketball they need people who can work all day, and the student employees and student clubs can't do that. OVG has a large group of part time staff who work at the Casey's Center who work in concessions.

Levy still handles concessions for ISU Athletics; that contract still has a few years remaining on it before it can be rebid.

How did you think it looked? Just seems a little odd to choose that color, but maybe it works.
Thought it was fine, but I couldn't remember if it was like that last season or not. I think red would've looked better to match the paint under the suites on the sides, but they would've had to get new Sukup signs.

I thought the same thing, something seemed a little different at the spring showcase but I wasn't 100&% sure if that color was new. I don't think it looks much better or worse, just gives a little different feel. If anything, adding that color instead of just the concrete color makes it feel a little more complete.

Around 2007-2008 they did it when they did the east and west side refreshes.

They definitely need to be wider, as that concourse is a mess on gamedays. If they sell beer, it's going to be worse.

Boooooo!

Can you at least suggest they use the grab & go model when you guys start selling alcohol to us poors? That's slated to start this fall, right?

I have a hard time seeing us widening the concourses again because then you have to tear down the bathroom/concessions and start over.

I saw they are going to be replacing the stairs on the south side of Hilton this summer.

Good that they are replacing the Hilton stairs. They are crumbling. And braces are needed underneath it.

How about put in an escalator for us geezers with bad knees?

Are they doing the south facing stairs that leads to the west entrance that most people use? Or the ones that are connected to the B2 parking lot? Or both?

Yes, they’d have to demo that whole thing. But honestly it needs to happen.
