What's everyone reading?

I go through 40-50 books a year. Lots of variety. Lots and lots of biographies, and stoic content. Every now and then I mix in a book from my youth. For example I have downed The outsiders, wrinkle in time, and after this book I am going to
The way back machine and diving into Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIHM. It is always enjoyable to go back and consume the content as an adult.
Damn, I am lucky if I get through 8 or so, though the only time I read (religiously) is before bed. I read until I start dropping my Kindle on my face, but the downside of that habit is that when I read at any other time of the day, I tend to get sleepy.

Audio books are your friend. I listen to a book a week at work but I have a job where I don't really need to be communicating with anyone most of the time

Any new(er) James Patterson or Stephen King books? I need to start reading fiction again.

Don't need to be communicating or don't want to be communicating? Either way is a good reason to listen to a book.

It's handy for doing chores around the house also. The routine stuff where you can zone out to the task and have some entertainment.

I usually work alone but ya I don't care for small talk.

It's really good. And three members of my family read it too and loved it. But check the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book written by the author. Yeah it's horror but knowing the trigger warnings it's actually also sad, heartbreaking and emotional devastating. I think my mom actually said she cried. Reading this author's other bestseller (We Used To Live Here) and it's also great.

if you haven't read any of S.A. Cosby's books, you should. You should also try Greg Iles...he has some all time awesome novels including the Natchez Burning trilogy and a great medical thriller called True Evil.

I just finished The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown. It is another Robert Langdon adventure. It is really good. The overarching theme is the human consciousness and how it is accessed, etc. It can be read shallowly as a good adventure thriller or dive in deep and consider the concepts it proposes and discusses.

Finished the 7th Dungeon Crawler Carl book earlier this week, and now we wait for the next to come out mid-May.

Needed something to fill the gap, and had seen a few times that the Jurassic Park book was very good and much darker than the movie. Started that a few days ago, and have been mildly surprised at how good it’s been. Might have to do Jurassic World after this, since Kindle seems to think they’re a 2-book series.
If you like the DCC series, I recommend the Discount Dan series. 3 books so far, and while similar to DCC, it is unique in its own ways.

Also highly recommend the audio book. Steve Campbell is excellent.

I recently finished The Last King of Asten Ard by Tad Williams. I enjoyed it. I thought it was even better than his Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. I've now started the Wizard of Earth Sea series from Ursula K Le Guin. So far, so good. Definitely more YA.

Over on Audible, I listened to a couple of Scalzi books. I enjoyed Kaiju Preservation Society. I was pretty meh on Starter Villain. I also listened to the first two Bobiverse books. I liked those and will likely listen to more of them,

Like most of civilized society, I am barely containing myself as I wait for book 8 of DCC.
