Ryno says HI!
I mean MVP consideration for guys that do not put up SLG. Ryno had plenty of SLG in his MVP year and of course, had tons of it later in his career. So far at least, Nico has only had a barely-400 SLG season once, in 22.

I looked it up--only three players have ever won the MVP with such low SLG, all years ago, two with Chicago connections. Our own Johnny Evers in 1914, Nellie Fox with the White Sox in their 1959 pennant season, and Cardinal Marty Marion during WWII. That's it. So far in 26, Nico is killing it with a healthy SLG, we'll see if it continues. And for the record, I LOVE the guy, he's easily my favorite current Cub.

Home plate ump struggling tonight.

Kyle Tucker weak pop up, never seen that before.

I assume Assad is just gonna also have to wear this one, Cubs just don’t have enough arms to blow them all trying to salvage this one.

Game MIGHT have gone differently tonight if Happ catches that flyball off the left field wall, I think he makes that play most of the time, not sure what happened if he misjudged where he was at/how close to the wall he was, don't know. But Rea gets out of the inning with Cubs down just one run, maybe he gets two more innings and things go better. Meh. PCA had a really bad, rough game.
