Blake Buchanan officially announces his return to ISU!

I really like this core coming back. Likely will be some growing pains, but ISU is not really much different in turnover as most teams in the current landscape of basketball.

Actually I think we are a lot better on turnover. I mean we actually have seniors that are leaving and only one transfer. Unless you include nelson who is trying to get an extra year

We're definitely returning less (minutes, scoring) vs. last year but the NIL/TP era has been remarkably kind to ISU.

Portal losses who could have returned who I assume we'd have liked to keep:
- Tyrese Hunter

Portal losses who could have returned who I'm not sure we'd have liked to keep:
- Dishon Jackson

I'm not counting Milan yet unless he ends up on another college team. He was never expected to be a four-year guy.

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Read the following DM Reg. quote from Blake and it is obvious there is something about Iowa State he loves. Some poster says it wasn't Paulk. Really?

"I’m coming back," Buchanan said. "I’m here. This year has been the best year of college basketball I’ve had. I found the love of the game again. I’m here to stay. I love this place."

I'm sure the Paulk Factor doesn't hurt, but he did seem to really enjoy playing.

I thought he had a great year. He's not Olajuwon but he was very good in his role.

I think Indrusaitis is one we would have liked to have kept.

These types of threads are becoming tiresome. Not a shot at you OP.
No worries. I know the recommitment threads seem a bit unnecessary but I saw multiple posts earlier this week asking why we haven't heard about who's returning. People were stressing after the Milan small surprise portal announcement.

BB is a starter and I felt a separate thread was warranted. In the age of the portal nothing is official until it is official. Glad we get to see Blake in the Cardinal and Gold one more year.

Yea…I guess with TJ bridges stay burned?

He’d have been another nice replacement for MM
We did much better than Nojus in the portal. I get people stay attached to the recruits they already know but he was not very good on a very bad Pitt team. He would be bench depth at Iowa State and I'm guessing he isn't interested in that

Nojus was told to leave. There's a reason he was cut from the rotation by December whereas Batemon kept getting opportunities even when he struggled at first. His defense isn't good enough and his offense isn't spectacular enough to compensate. He also wasn't a cultural fit. We recruited over him.

You could say he was a miss as a recruit, but he definitely wasn't a miss in retention.

Actually I’m glad for the update. I wasn’t even aware there was a possibility he would portal. Just waiting on Xavion now?
