Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

If his focus is the NBA, why enter the portal? Jerk move towards Iowa State.
What if he doesn't get drafted? As much as we love Milan, we couldn't leave a gapping hole in our lineup for "what ifs"
Milan is protecting himself in the case his NBA status changes...He can get more money from a team that waits and gives him money they have or could easily get...that isn't us. Sucks, but it's the reality.

Milan is 6’8” and just had the best 3 pt shooting % season in NCAA history when he had to take a lot of tough shots. He is not going undrafted and the comparisons to AJ Green situation are laughable. At worst, he’s mid-2nd rd pick but if he balls out at combine stuff he could move up to mid-late 1st. Based on timeline of events thus far, I’m guessing he already got good feedback from NBA teams that they’re interested in drafting him.

Agree.

He wouldn't rank this high in a prospect list but he would probably be the absolute perfect player for Oklahoma City at #16 and the talent level of their roster means they could absolutely afford to take him way early.

Please no. We want him on the Pacers

If Milan ends up having to come back to college he’s going to end up at like a UConn or a Florida who will still have 3-4 million dollars laying around to pay him.

I think he’s trying the NBA no matter what. He can’t play much better than he did this past year. He’s probably not going to increase his stock at all with another year in college. And I think he’s the perfect candidate for a good team that can take a guy with some flaws but has an elite skill like Milan’s shooting.

If his goal is the NBA another school is just too risky. Going to a new system with a bunch of other transfers who all command the ball is not a great recipe for improving your NBA stock.

He’s going to be high enough that he ought to able to get guaranteed two years and maybe bounce between the NBA and G League. I still think if he’s around toward the end of the first the Pistons will take him. They have a really good young roster, but a shooter is their only real hole in the roster.

Speaking of draft, where is Jefferson going? First round? I’ve seen Lipsey on a few mock drafts like very late 2nd round

The comparisons to AJ Green are valid. The comparison isn't the players that they are or where they could/should go in the draft, it's simply that Iowa State could be vulnerable if they wait again like they did with AJ.

If you save a seat for Milan now & have no backup, you're basically screwing yourself like we did with AJ.

Saw this coming. He played well enough this season to at least test the waters. Portal is just a safety net in case the feedback isn't great. Tough for the roster though.

He fits the mold for Boston and Cleveland too. Plenty of teams need shooting, he will get drafted for sure, we just don't know at what round.

It is a good sign to have him drafted as a junior. He is talented enough for the league, even though he still has some things to work on.

Its especially impressive given the lack of consistent shooting/offense from Toure/Lipsy along with the 'clogging' nature of playing 3 forwards all the time. Plus Milan's athletic abilities are fairly limited, his shooting abilities are truly remarkable

AJs agent asked teams not to draft him after they got past pick 40, fwiw. He had a deal done with the Bucks going into draft night. Milan could very well have the same situation.

In 95% of cases, you're better off getting to choose your situation rather than be a 2nd round pick.

Are you intentionally ignoring what both Milan and ISU have said?

It's really not - it's absolutely the right thing to do for Milan. The jerk move to ISU is to tell them he's coming back and just "testing the waters", and then staying in the draft and leaving ISU with no one

Milan will not have the same situation. AJ was likely going undrafted with the chance maybe a few teams could take him late. Milan probably has a greater chance of being drafted in 1st round than AJ had of being drafted at all. If Milan is still available at 40, he will be at the top of every team's draft board and he won't be able to tell every team not to draft him.

Given his size and shooting alone I'll be shocked if he doesn't make a roster somewhere. Unfortunately, that doesn't necessarily pay as well as signing for one year at some school who would throw him a bag.
While I'd rather see him in the league, I can not blame him if that ends up being the case. I don't think ISU could get him what he can get elsewhere without killing the budget.
NBA or bust, please!
