**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

Maybe I've missed it, but is there any ISU interest in the Cincy bigs that are in the portal, given TJ just hired a Cincy asst coach?

Taj Manning might be the only one of the five that I hope TJ doesn’t sign.
Probably the lowest ranked but if TJ takes him, I trust he sees something to work with. And every BRE/JJeff development story he puts together makes ISU a better destination for undervalued talent - and that is a big advantage in todays NIL world.

Another look at the 5 visitors:

Singleton - 6'8" - 3 years remaining
Bond - 6'5" - 1 year remaining
Prather - 6'5" - 1 year remaining
Johnson - 5'11" - 2 years remaining
Manning - 6'7" - 2 years remaining (assuming a med RS)

I think they can be considered 3 different positions - a backup PG, a 3&D wing, and depth at the '4'.

Everyone's talking about Milan to the NBA and IMO, that's his third option. Right now I think its 1. he transfers and gets a bag (would be the highest paid SF). 2. he sticks around at ISU and his NIL goes to like 2.5, or he leaves for the NBA. I dont want him transferring, but I'm sure he's wanting to compete for a natty and get a bag, and i dont think we could provide both at ISU. Just my two cents

Maybe Milan’s plans are to either go NBA or transfer to another school that will pay him 2-3x what ISU will.

Selfishly I want him back, but I’m not sold on him as an NBA player, so maybe he should just get what he can from somewhere else?
By all accounts, Milan is not chasing the biggest bag. He wants to play for TJ if he stays in college. Only reason he’d play elsewhere is if he waits too long and there’s no spot/money for him here.

The CF Transfer Tracker has 5 visitors this weekend:
Tre Singleton, Northwestern
Leon Bond, UNI
Ryan Prather, Robert Morris
Jaquan Johnson, Bradley
Taj Manning, KSU
A lot to like there, whether Milan comes back or not. And I want him to come back. I think he has room to help his game here next year.

I am just going to say that we will have a mystery recruit nobody knows about until he commits. That always seems to happen. Could be a Mulder type but someone else besides those 5 will end up being Cyclones next year. Also, what is the word on Williams. Someone said he bets he won't be here next year. Yet, he has not entered the portal yet. So why would he wait so long to enter the portal if he was leaving?

It's really tricky for Milan having fringe first round NBA potential.

There are plenty of examples of guys who left for a bag that certainly did not help their pro potential. Haggerty, Boogie Fland, Dent, Ian Jackson, Darrion Williams, Freeman, Thiam etc. You could cost yourself quite a bit of long term earnings taking a quick pay day and going to a situation where you can't fully show off your talents.

If you're good enough, you'll find your way to the NBA for the most part. I don't think any of those guys are good enough. It's harder than ever to make it to the NBA.

There’s “more money” and there’s going from $2.5M to $5M. I wouldn’t blame him at all if he left for a bag like that.
Easy decision…..IF your first and last priority is the MOST money. I don’t think it is. Milan will get paid nicely sooner AND later.

I don't he is fringe first round. I think he is mid 2nd round or even later.

I mean Dan Hurley said it best, if you're not in the lottery then you stand to make more money in college so why leave? My only worry is that some team could give Milan an early 2nd commitment and he may just take his chances with that which would be understandable.

Personally, if I were Milan, I'm looking at this years loaded draft class compared to next year and saying ok I can make more money in college compared to a R2 pick this year and if I have another great season then maybe I can slip into the late 1st round next year.

Maybe this has been asked before, but I’m not entirely sure where the line is drawn between revenue share and scholarship allotment. If we’re limited to 13 scholarships with 2 walk-ons (total of 15), we’ll need to be very selective this weekend. If it’s a full 15 spots regardless of scholarship status due to revenue sharing, that gives us a bit more flexibility to consider some of the transfers who are visiting.

One issue there is that it's not just a one-year comparison. A player who is able to stick in the NBA will get much larger 2nd and 3rd contracts, so getting to those a year earlier is beneficial.

For Milan, I think it probably still makes sense to come back, but it's not necessarily a direct comparison between what he can make next year in college vs. the NBA.
