Like you said it’s been going on a long time. A girl in our class married one of our teachers (still married this day). Doubt if that would pass muster by her parents, school board or administrators today.

My HS guidance counselor married one of his students…they were like 8-10 years apart.
He retired in 1988 at 65 or so.

And porn is only getting worse and evolving. Now there are AI porn websites. It’s just crazy.
Things were different only in the fact they stood a much better chance of not going to jail. I know two former educators that married former students, both had long marriages with children and are still married today.
The idea its happening more today than then is completely wrong in my opinion, they are just being caught now and sent to jail, but its always been there, not increasing, just not looking the other way like it was before.
The presence of social media probably helps with that significantly if I had to guess

Yes, and the AI girlfriend thing it pretty crazy. So you have a "girlfriend" that agrees with everything you say and do. You interact only when you want to. Never puts any demands or restrictions on you. Tells you you are funny, smart, and sexy daily. The odds of ever having a real relationship after the are pretty dam slim IMO.
Birth rates in the US will continue to plummet. And no we cannot bribe or legislate our way out of it.

I just saw in KCCI that the Bondurant elementary principal resigned after being under the influence of alcohol while on the job.
A teacher in my middle school was fired for looking at porn on his work computer during his open period. So no students were in the classroom. Rumor was that somehow IT was flagged and they just walked into his classroom and confronted him while he was viewing.
IT Dept should have had a firewall setup to block those sites but that teacher is a moron.
Most school computers have a tracking system that allows the IT person to see what site the students and staff are visiting each day. At one school I was at we had it placed on our computer so you could see what the kids were watching and then block it if they were playing games or other things on their school computer. You had to set it up for each class period, otherwise you could view what a student was looking at all day long. Once blocked the person can no longer view that site, used to really piss off some of the kids, until you unblocked it for them.

This would have been early 00's, so it's very possible the firewall just wasn't very good technology-wise. Also, he was the science teacher and a known computer nerd, so part of the rumor was that he thought he had figured out a way around it.
Porn and game sites were all blocked out but the kids could always find a new site to view the material that was not on the list of sites to be blocked. Once it became known it was added and blocked.
I had to go down and talk to him about unblocking YouTube because it has a great many 10 to 15 minute videos on history and science topics. Once I explained why I needed it, he unblocked it for me, so I could show the videos I needed for class. If you are watching porn on a school computer if even you are taking it home you are just asking to be fired. Even out of the schools network the IT person could see what had been viewed on the computer.
Yes, we definitely were aware that IT was playing whack-a-mole blocking sites with games on them too lol
