**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

Freitag would be a perfect fit from a “needs” perspective, meaning he would fit a need for what we should be looking for, but I’m just not seeing it happening. I’d be surprised if we don’t at least call though.
I saw on X that he's been to 4 schools in 4 years.. That made me think he's not a TJ fit

One place I would be looking is St. Mary's, where Jefferson came from. Their coach is moving to Arizona State and will take some with him, but that team was really talented and they had good big men. I watched them because my son goes to Santa Clara and they have a couple big guys who I think they will hit the transfer portal as well.

I keep seeing centers in this thread. Does anyone seriously think that’s an add this spring? We have a productive starter that will be a senior and a freshman that showed a lot of promise. To me it’s one or two PF depending on if they feel Kiss is viable next year. Then an elite shooter to replace Hiese. Those two are definite needs a second PF isn’t out of the question.

Would not doubt if we added beat available

Solid player but where would he fit in? With Toure, Batemon, Carson, Wiggins, and Gray, we only played 4 guards this year (with Jefferson playing a Point Forward for a lot of the time), at least one of the two freshman will play - is Toure the starting or backup PG? Or, is he kind of an off the ball type guard again? (which is kind of what i would prefer). I don't know if Carson is a PG or SG, so if he's a PG, would he be the starter?

Maybe if Mason Williams didn't get hurt he could have played this year and we could have seen a 5 man rotation? I would have to assume if Carson is coming here, we're probably set on guards and our portal focus will be getting a couple bigs, IMO. Especially if Mommy returns
Toure was the point guard when Lipsey was hurt and looked like he handled it really well. With a year of experience I expect he will play point when he is on the court.

Then he’s leaking out in transition. It’s not like his numbers aren’t good because he’s missing available rebounds. The game plan doesn’t call for him to be getting them.
I'm not buying that at all.

Another thing to consider with the "bigs" is how well can they play the defense in TJ's scheme. They have to be able to communicate and rotate quickly. An agile "big" would be preferred for TJ's defensive scheme
And guard/ switch onto dribblers vs ball screens- this is what BB and JJeff did so well this year. The scheme may not call for switching all the time, did a lot of blitzing 30’-40’ from the rim this year. Helps to have guys that can execute those schemes. Jackson a year ago couldn’t do any of that.

We also had Jefferson handle the ball a ton in those games to lightens the load. I liked the two to three ball handlers we had with Lipsey, Gilbert and Jones.

I suspect he had been told to stay behind the arc and launch any shot up he thought was remotely open. He was given the complete green light and was doing his job.
How about gets told to improve his defensive rebounding numbers then.
