WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

BF has one year left on his contract at 800,000- For comparison Brenda Frese make 1.8 million at Maryland. She has a national title in 2006.

Good. Then go find players that want to play and that just aren't in it for the money. Unfortunately that would require the coaches to "work" and coach instead of just collecting their checks and ******** about money.
And come to ISU to lose, get screamed at and not paid? Finding those girls should be easy. Sorry but graduating college with 3-400K in the bank after taxes is huge. If done right, life changing. And most of these people have zero allegiance to Iowa so like it or not it's just a team and a check.

Eye is in the beholder. Clearly you and her don’t value having a true Alma mater
for life to come back to,
being in record books, being an all time beloved player at a great women’s basketball supportive school. Again if this is Bill being the problem I support her leaving as I called out. But this is women’s basketball and as good as she is is not moving the needle at a title contender, so I guess if she wants to hop on to one to say she won fine. We need to either say the coach is the problem or we can’t be truly competitive in this sport I’m afraid.

She's getting her undergrad degree from Iowa State. So I hope she feels Iowa State is a place to come back to. I wish her many blessings!

Just don't understand why people feel a player needs to finish their athletic eligibility at Iowa State to have great memories of their experience in Ames and feel it is the place where they received their primary college experience and grew up from teen to adulthood. I hope Addy feels totally welcome in coming back for Homecoming and WBB activities.

She's moving on to get her grad degree (and probably play hoops) at another school. IMO that doesn't minimize her ISU degree and impact on ISU hoops. A lot of Cyclone alumni have graduate degrees from other schools and I'd bet most have more affinity for Iowa State than their grad school. I know I do!!

College athletics is a professional job. Players commit thousands of hours a year and get a scholarship and now "salary" for that commitment. So just like your career, she needs to keep advancing her professional skills and maybe get a bump in pay with her next opportunity. And if WNBA or overseas isn't in Addy's future, then she'll have a grad degree from a school that paid for her education.

I wish Addy was coming back to the ISU WBB program, but she's a young women making the best decision for her life. Not mine or Cyclone fans. Go Addy, Always a Cyclone!

Thank you for saving me the time. :)

I thought it might be a realistic look at the state of things.
I believe Blum’s NIL figures. ISU is at a disadvantage.
What he and Chris always avoid saying is how much money women’s bb loses at every school; at ISU it was $4.5 mil last year, the biggest money-losing sport by far here. Iowa lost almost $4 mil.
But Iowa’s budget can absorb that loss better than we can.

So, where will Brown land?

Duke, maybe? Her sister finished up there so family would be familiar with the school and would be good for hoops and grad degree if she really wants one.

Give me a team of Arianna Jackson types and a coach who will coach and adapt their style.

Based on the little I know...Kansas schools or Duke seem to be the front runners. But it truly could be almost anywhere, if she's open to it. Probably can rule out UCONN/SoCar/LSU. Otherwise, it seems she can go wherever she would like if she's open and the fit is there.

The "money" excuse is weak and lazy. Good coaches can still coach despite not having the money to spend.
Does the money thing keep us from competing at the top? Absolutely! Does the money keep us from looking poorly coached and have zero development of players in the program? No.

It's fair to say that money might limit us in some regards but this isn't really the issues here. Horrible defense, uncreative offense, and almost no players developing over the years. A lot of stuff that is very much in the coaches control.

So many times when a 3 is being shot by one of our players, Crooks is already getting back on D and not crashing the boards. Always seemed odd to me.
During the last 1/4 of the season, it seemed like ALL of our players were running to the other end of the court after a 3-point shot. Not even a thought about getting an offensive rebound.

Defended the coaches(put no blame on them)... blamed money for everything.
Example: did we really underachieve this season? Based on how we don't spend as much as other schools.

They did admit that they are super biased about wbb.

That alone discredits the entire "conversation" they just had.
They are Fennelly fanboys that's fine, but it makes them incapable of ever truly discussing why they keep failing to meet expectations. Why would money have anything to do with how bad the defense is or why our girls are slow and look unconditioned?

Neither Kansas school is one competing for much in the league or in March so I don't see them in play. Schools firmly in the top 16 or so would seem to be the best basketball option for both $$ and competative play. She's going to be one of the top portal recruits even if some top stars pull surprises and enter the portal.

ISU has an NIL $$$ disadvantage, just as Fennelly has maintained.
According to Blum, TCU, TTech and Baylor have 3 to 4 times more NIL funds to offer players than we do. Iowa 3 times as much money as us.
And yet look at the roster we had. Not sure about McD All American's, but didn't we have 2....plus Audi, plus some good role pieces. Disadvantaged or not money wise, we had the players. The coaching has been below average to poor and that is not a money issue. Bill makes darn good money as do the assistants....players were there, coaches didn't make it work.

They'd say they gave us sweetheart deals because they just love ISU so so much. We are a small podunk college that doesn't actually deserve anything, and we only get by on the good heartedness of our players.

Sorry I'm wiled up by the media giving Fennelly yet another pass after failing to meet expectations for years.
