It was a Good Weekend for Iowa State in Hilton

And we had some great tailgates in the Hilton lots. The one for wrestling on Sunday was outstanding. Cyclone fans really know how to enjoy nice weather in February.
It was a great day for a wrestling tailgate and some Blood Round Beer.

Some pretty cool Crown Bottles recognizing the 4-0 CyHawk sweep this year. I grabbed a bottle.

It was Magic.
On this note, the announcers tried to say the first mention of Hilton Magic was in the Des Moines Register in 1998. Might be the first time the Register acknowledged it, but Hilton Magic was a thing at least as far back as the late 80's under Johnny. Was the Lafester game the beginning of the magic moniker?

Maybe Ronnie “Iceman” Virgil! Maybe vs. Missouri? I was there, but maybe I was drinking?

My first recollection was in the very end of the Orr years. Back then you played everyone in conference home and away so, a lot of data points, Orrs teams were great at home and not so much on the road so Hilton always gave a a huge numerical advantage. Also aided by the fact Orrs teams scored a lot so they rarely got blown out even in road losses.

Not sure if the term magic was used but I do remember a SI article about a significant home court advantage. I think it was early to mid 90s.

Barry Stevens making it rain before the 3 pt line against Missouri. Was the start.
