Two teams that share several similarities will take to the court tomorrow. The dissimilarities are where each team could step up to win this one.

Thanks for the write up.

We’ve settled into a post Addy game plan. If they double Audi our game plan pretty much relies on getting the 3 game going. If they don’t double, it’s relies on getting the ball efficiently to Audi. I expect the former so AJ, Hare, Harris, and whoever need to be ready.

Our defense is what it is. Just don’t get out rebounded.

Any team would be a fool not to double Audi.

Utah lists two players as out. Mafua has only played sparingly in 9 games this season and Todd in none. No impact on the game.

Yeah, it's more a matter of how they double. TT let Audi catch and sent the double way too late or not at all. UCF had a good game plan fronting her and sagging 2 other defenders. But they also had the size to do that.

Fronting and baiting us into throwing bad passes over the top seems to be the best game plan against our offense. Then you hope that our guards continue to struggle to shoot threes. Jackson is a huge help here. It would be nice to see Hare break out. I feel bad for her, but props to her for continuing to defend and hustle despite her struggles shooting.

I'm interested to see if we continue to use Paulk in the pick and roll with Williams. I like it in theory, especially for getting Williams open jumpers and paths to the hoop. Paulk needs to be more aggressive and decisive.

One positive is that Williams has done a fantastic job of passing over a defender that fronts Crooks.

Yeah when teams don't double or have someone sagging. During conference play, they're just waiting for her to throw it and then come over and steal it.

My favorite play of the game so far was Audi's pass back to EP for a wide open layup.

Also liking Sydney's confidence from the 3-line.

Edited to claim credit for posting about Sydney's confidence prior to her shot at the end of the 3rd Q.

Please explain why they couldn't fix the clock near the end of the 3rd Q. Was it because they had already let some additional time run off the clock? If so, I thought that silly policy got addressed long ago after the "phantom 3 at the Phog." If you don't know what that it, just know that it may be the most atrocious benefit giving to KU by the refs at home. In this case, KU made a 3-point shot between the two free throws being shot by ISU. There was something about putting points on the board and letting the game proceed that "couldn't" be reversed. Like here, it would have been so easy to make it right.

It’s definitely a pick your poison. If you don’t double her she WILL get a ton of points. If you do double her it’s a crapshoot as to whether the guards are on or not.
I get your point, but I do not think it’s pick your poison. If you let Audi catch the ball 6’ from the basket you will die. Nobody else has consistently proved they can beat you, even unguarded. The optional brands of poison have not proven lethal. If a team has an extremely dominant player - take them Out of the game.

Last night Utah faced both kinds of poison. Both ended up being lethal. The guard type is just the red pill versus the blue pill. If you get the red pill (guards are hitting) you lose. Utah def tried what you suggest correctly…and they got the red pill. Then they tried the other way and it didn’t work either. Just a good team win. I def agree you HAVE to plan around trying to stop Crooks first.
