Happy Friday. I'll be guest-host this week, at the request of @Angie.

The recent change to fall equinox brought me to this topic: Throughout my life, I’ve had a preference for some seasons over others, or specific months/periods within a season, but it has evolved over the years.

Has your preference/pecking order changed, as time passes? If so, any specific reason(s)? Sometimes, it isn’t always connected with weather patterns, but general life experience you connect with it.

I'll post a few of my notes separately.

most of my childhood, summer months were my favorite, without question. (No school! Family vacation week!) That began to shift back a month or so, I liked transition from winter into spring and I think in part I liked the communal atmosphere of competing in track meets.

For quite a while, my order was:
Spring
Fall
Summer
Winter

More recently, I’ve developed an overlap, preferring mid-August to mid-October and late-February to mid-April. I continue to dislike/loathe majority of November-January, in general. Especially January.

I developed an association of the winter-spring switchover with March Madness, that definitely plays a role.

As a kid, definitely Summer, Winter, Fall, Spring because Summer school was out, and winter had snow days! Now as an adult its more about the weather being comfortable and my favorite sports seasons, so Fall, Spring, Winter, Summer. Summer is last because it can be unbearable sometimes weather wise.

The older I get the more I appreciate Spring. I like the looks of houses with flowers, plants, etc out front. I prefer open windows vs air conditioning. I like blowing the dust off the bike and getting it ready.

As a kid, summer for sure. Now, I suppose it's fall. Best time for travel and being outdoors.

Summer was the runaway winner as a kid.

Now it's: Spring>Fall>Summer>Winter. I really pop during the hoodie and khaki shorts seasons.

Summer
Spring
Fall
Winter

Winter by far dead last for me, I hate the snow, cold, less daylight, and not being able to enjoy as much outdoors. The warmer part of fall is ok but as the temps chill and daylight gets less it just reminds me winter is coming. Spring may be a mixed bag of weather but the warmer temps and increasing amount of daylight at least gets me in a better mood knowing summer is coming.

Summer was the best growing up but now since I really don't enjoy the heat it's toward the bottom.

As much as I enjoy the break during the summer from teaching, it's still my least favorite season.
I do not enjoy the heat.

Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.
