Nebraska AD on tv complaining that football needs to win big for financial needs. Renovation of Memorial Stadium delayed again (2022 start) and university has to cut another $27.6 million from general funds. After cutting $100+ million over that last couple years. LOL

Nebraska walked out on a good relationship, and the new wife ain't working out.
Situation is likely just as dire in other universities both academic and athletics, but just not out or reported. B1G has money, so they walked into a perfect relationship. Winning is secondary to money.
I agree with all you said, except the last sentence. I think everyone in Nebraska would gladly trade the Cornhusker's annual Big 10 media paycheck for a return to their glory days of being a national football blueblood. Winning trumps all, even money.

Ironically, those fans would be idiots for trading money for success. with B1G, they can theoretically win and be rich; versus just win and be left on the outside.
hard for me to imagine that massive changes in enrollment dynamics and the overall college landscape doesn't collapse sooner than later. College academics and athletics costs have ballooned with decreasing value added (or negative value added). That wont last long. Ripple effects will be wild.

I get its easy and fun to dunk on Debby; but how is this not a dark cloud in the horizon for ISU? NEB is much more cash flow rich and is still giving not great optimism about paying players and facilities. That's a harbinger to me. As I said, its just not been as public as NEB just did.
On the local sports radio they have been kicking around the numbers for the Memorial Stadium renovation as $500m - $1b

It may be a dark cloud, but it doesn’t change much in football.
Transfer rules, or lack thereof, is a bigger dark cloud.
Basketball may be hurt some, as without other schools offering more , TJ is likely getting his pick
I do think Nebraska takes considerable step considering where they've been. As much as I hate to say it. Schedule is pretty manageable and think Raiola is going to be pretty good moving forward. I think they finish 9-3. Hope I'm wrong
The majority of Nebraska’s top ten players for 2026 have committed to Iowa State, according to 24/7. Who could have predicted that 30 years ago.
That wasn't going to happen in the Big 12 either and it would be healthier for them to accept that.
