I signed my wife up for a monthly donation without her knowing. :)

I don’t know what @stuclone thinks, but if you have a chance to get to okoboji next year for the CNG golf outing, it’s worth it.

They put on a welcome party the night before at a Morton building that is just ridiculous inside with all of the staff and wrestlers there, and you have a great opportunity to just meet and talk to these kids in a relaxed atmosphere. And plenty of food and drinks too.

The golf this year got rained out after 9 holes, but nobody seemed to mind, as they all gathered in the clubhouse for a meal and auction, which had some ridiculous stuff up for bid.

And as an extra bonus for all in attendance, Dresser told the orange story and the place was roaring!!

Afterwards everyone was invited to West O Beer for an after party. West O Beer is a great partner for Iowa State, please support them.

All in all it was a fun couple of days and I am looking forward to next year to see if Stu can make it bigger and better

This is a great event that Ryan R and the folks from the Boji area did very well. Looking forward to next year!

Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed it.

The best thing that has happened to me was being fortunate enough to be blessed with great friends and an understanding wife and kids that wanted to help with this event. Tom Clary and Di Lorenzen host a wonderful VIP reception for everyone on Thursday night that kicks off our weekend. Tom always steps up when I need something for the CNG, and doesn't think twice.

And Kaylene Jackson was a rock star making this thing go from 5 teams to 36 and a waiting list this year. She is amazing.

And even though we got rained out after 8-9 holes, West O Beer hosted an after-party for everyone that night. It was a great event, at least I thought so, @stuclone can give his thoughts. But it's a really relaxed atmosphere with the wrestlers and coaches and you can just enjoy everyone's company.

We have already scheduled next year's event for Friday May 30, 2025, at Emerald Hills in Arnolds Park, so please join us if you can.

Thanks again for all your support.

It was a great time and have that date marked on my calendar for next year! even if the golf sells out, it is worth it for the dinner package to come and hangout with the team and coaches. They are always very transparent in person (as people have mentioned with Dresser at the tailgate tours) and you get to know the guys on a more personal level. Really great event and can't wait to be there next year after a 2nd straight top 5 placement in Philly!

I am putting this out to all of our wrestling fans that are thinking about contributing to the Cardinal and Gold Collective, have contributed in the past, or have never contributed but are ready to start.

August is the biggest month as far as expenses go for the team. Every single donation, no matter how big or small, is truly appreciated, necessary and benefits this team so much for our future success.

We have our biggest need with school starting and all of you know about the quality athletes that have been added since the end of the season. But retention of our athletes remains the highest priority for the staff, and they have done a fantastic job of getting young men on this team that are both talented and loyal to this program.

With the success of the athletes comes an increased cost to keep them in Ames. And also, to keep the "Vultures" away. It's an incredibly dirty business how some schools operate in this NIL world right now, and that's all I will say about that.

Wrestling gets 9.9 scholarships and we have some incredible depth in the room right now. But we need funds to keep it that way.

So, I am asking all of you to think about going online to donate, or dropping a check in the mail to help with the Cardinal and Gold expenses and the future of Iowa State wrestling. As I said before, every contribution helps.

Thanks for your time and consideration. This team is special, it has a chance to be really good.

Have a great day!

Ryan

Not entirely sure where to post this, saw the recent release from the CRTC summer event schedule. Is this tied into the Cardinal and Gold Collective as well? Do they have an upcoming schedule of events to be released for summertime activities? Wanted to know if those of us in Northeast Iowa could expect any events in our neck of the woods? Thanks!

Per the Williams & Blum podcast, it sounds like the wrestling program WILL get revenue sharing $ from the athletic department. No doubt, it will be a small slice, but hopefully enough to keep us competitive. True NIL deals will be very limited given wrestling's relatively low visibility. No idea what this does to the C&G Collective. I imagine we'll all hear more soon, but anyone chime in with info.

We will get a portion allocated, but the collective has to earn it. So if the the collective earns nothing, we have no NIL money from the university.

I think, but do not know that this may be because the University does not have enough money in the budget for the whole $20 million for Football, MBB and WBB.

A different approach to the fact the AD won’t be fully funding the max amount right away, got to have to different ideas. I’d assume MBB, Football and WBB are the only ones getting guaranteed NIL from the University and that other sports get a piece of the pie that they are responsible for fundraising.

So this is what confuses me. So this is the collective then paying the school for the school to pay the athletes?
