Anyone got a good recommendation for an accountant in the Cedar Rapids / Marion area? The one we had lined up to do our taxes bailed on us last minute. Any leads would be appreciated.

We use Creative Planning (formerly Bergan KDV) for the business, and they do my personal taxes as well. They are anything but cheap, and I don't think they are very aggressive about finding deductions and saving you money on taxes. But they do a good job and are very trustworthy.

I used to use a guy John Freeman CPA on the west side town. He was a little odd, but I thought looked pretty hard for tax saving items. His wife / admin was super nice. I am sure I would still go there but for the business.

I see that he is now "BMF Tax & Accounting", which I find HILARIOUS for an accounting company.
Curt how did you not trademark "BMF Accounting" first?? lol

That’s hilarious.

You are talking to the guy that when my client who was starting a Puerto Rican restaurant asked me to set up their LLC and I told them I needed a name for it. They asked what I thought for a name and I suggested “Puerto Rican Restaurant” and that’s what they went with. Pretty creative. lol

I’ve been using the cheapest card reader for my pop-up stall, and it’s been a solid little machine for quick, low-fee payments. The flat-rate pricing kept things simple, and I liked not being tied into long contracts. If you’re mostly doing card taps on the go, it covers the basics without costing a fortune, and the setup took me just a few minutes.

I’d call a few small local CPA offices in Marion since they can usually squeeze in last‑minute filings. Friends or coworkers nearby might also have someone they trust and can recommend quickly.

You are a year late, he got a good one!

LOL
