Yeah I don’t think we’re doing that at all. Heise is definitely not being recruited over and will play a lot next year.
Should clarify not the hope of the staff, the hope of me. I really don’t like the kid. If you’re looking to build a big 12 contender I think a good rule of thumb is “would they get minutes at Houston?” and I just can’t imagine a world where he would

The teams still playing all play great offense, but they also have players who can get their own shots. Other than Milan, I don't know anyone else who can do that. Hopefully one of the freshmen and maybe Williams will surprise us with their offensive skills.
Jefferson is decent at playing bully ball. A healthy Tamin is actually pretty good at getting his too.

AND, I think I saw more passes be caught and finished in those highlights than I did by a certain player from this year's team, (who I very much appreciate and hope has a great next stop. Seemed like a nice guy. But one that could not handle many of the passes Jefferson was laying down.)
It appears he is really a poor shooter. Other than dunks, his shots were not going in cleanly.

In Williams's own words on the pod last week "We are no longer a developmental program."
Maybe he said this at the time thinking Cluff was coming. If he is out, then I'm sure Chris will change his tune given these additions.

*I'm moving past denial phase, and heading into spinzone phase.* Honestly, maybe this is for the better. Finally get some young guys some run, and see what they have. Maybe the team will be hitting their stride in Feb/March instead of tiring and fizzling out. I've been really excited for Batemon in particular.

Would imagine this will require more patience early on in the season. Likely take some bumps and bruises as the team figures things out, but hopefully it'll payoff come tourney time.

I don't know about shooter. He had an intersting one handed approach of a teardrop. He made quite a few of those. I'll say that I have seen many buckets go in during the NCAA tournament here (including amazing 3 pointers) that have banded around the rim, hit off the bracket, rattle home and NOT A SINGLE official has correctly come running in to call them off becuase it "wasn't a nice clean shot."

I've noticed Lurch at Kansas rattles a lot home like that. He is tall enough he just gets it on the rim soft and it somehow roills in. Some guys do that more than others.

But, maybe you're right. We'll only now when he starts clanging them in Hilton.

Until then.... Welcome big guy, get ready to rumble!

As I sad earlier, you got a decent pickup but he is definitely a role player day 1. When I watched the highlights of him against the top teams in the ACC or even tourney teams, he doesn't look very athletic. Below are some of this box scores against tourney teams, I do agree he has time to develop but the college game today is not really about development.
I think another factor not being mentioned a lot is FT shooting. If you're not going to wow anyone with your athleticism or offensive skills, then you better knock down free throws.

So far in the post we've added a career 45% FT shooter and a career 52% FT shooter. Yikes. I hoped we'd never return to the BRE free throws = a turnover days.

If Heise can put a full season that’s 85-90% as good as his last month he’ll be second team all big 12

Every year TJ has been here we have not needed patience early. He is the best I have ever seen getting pieces to fit way sooner than they should considering how many guys have come in that were new

Big Rob would have loved to have one of those percentages.

Heise will be key next season. Are we going to get end of the season Heise or the first 3/4 of the year Heise
Agree. I would be shocked if he regressed. Seems like he just needed to keep playing and get more comfortable. 40% from 3 and 65% from 2. He needs to be a bit more aggressive but hes a solid bench piece for sure.

Good Lord, you would think we were replacing every player on our roster, not returning Lipsey, JJ, Milan. And Heise. We'll be ranked top 15 at worst to start the year.

I mean anyone with eyes could see that we were getting cooked in the post offensively and defensively. Especially the last month or two of the season.
Seemed to me the opposite was the problem, injured guards meant less ability to pressure and allowed high 3 pt percentages. BYU (twice) and Mississippi especially.
