I appreciate the Iowa hate. I really do.

But putting that aside, we don’t have anyone returning that has demonstrated to be better all-around offensively. Certainly from a scoring perspective.

Milan has potential, but he’s yet to realize it. Thus far he’s been outstanding in the catch and shoot role. As fans it’s not unusual we want to assume he’s automatically taking the next step. With Gilbert out, he’ll have the opportunity to do so now.
I'mmmmm pretty sure you're not appreciating the Iowa hate.

how do guys with his skill level and athleticism not end up at P4 or even the Missouri Valley level in the first place?
Maybe they weren't playing and paying to be at the top level of AAU, maybe they grew a bunch their senior year, maybe they finally got great coaching once they got to college and developed quickly. Could be a lot of things.

No it wasn’t. We weren’t his best offer when it seemed like he was coming here
That was the rumor. Hadley really wanted to come to ISU and had even silently committed. L'ville came over the top with an offer which was more than any ISU player had with their NIL. The staff decided it wasn't worth meeting the offer and risk to upsetting team chemistry. Hadley isn't an NBA player so this was his chance for a big payday and had to take the Cardinal offer. ISU pivoted to Jefferson, in the end it worked out for everyone.

Yes, and it helped he had the connection with CuJo

It wasn’t exactly an either/or imo, although it would have been more difficult to convince Jefferson if Hadley had already committed

Dix would be a homerun and Im sure TJ could make it work but we really need more of a combo guard with our high dollar acquisition who can run the point while Lipsey takes a breather. Momcilovic/Heise/Dix would all be pure off ball guys. Dang though having Momcilovic and Dix on the floor together would really space the floor. I could see Jefferson just absolutely going to work in the paint.
I think you get the best available. If you have to roll with freshmen at backup point it works if he’s surrounded by talent. I know we lost our true PG but I doubt he would of seen the floor over Batemon regardless of position

Agree on best available, but isn’t Toure viewed as a true pg? At least in college.

You never know with freshmen, so I liked the idea of grabbing two and letting the best one win. Also low cost. Oh well

A Lipsey and Dix backcourt with Milan on the wing would be better on offense than this year imo. Toure, Batemon, and Heise off the bench should be very good by March

But it sounds like it’s Creighton unless one of the bigger spenders sways him

We really wanted him. Louisville’s offer was too much to turn down.

It had nothing to do with fit.

It’s not mutually exclusive that guys that go to places that pay much more are not good fits, or have goals solely to get paid
The story I heard on Hadley is we could afford to match Louisville's offer (the rumor was $500,000 but who knows for sure), but we couldn't afford to also bring guys like Tamin, Curtis, and Keshon up proportionally if a new guy was getting that much.

I think it was a smart move. You see how well it's worked out at places like KU and KSU with the one transfer with a much bigger bag than your loyal guys.

He is going to Kentucky per Evan Turner.

Rock is a good candidate to transfer. Don't see him really being effective at this level, and has plenty of eligibility to play somewhere else.

I myself would hate to see Rock leave - he can be a P5 player - I believe that!

Perhaps early into this era, but eventually the best cultures are the ones that can handle the capitalist principles of the best guys get the most pay.

Oh I agree if you have a foot in the door with Dix I'd be ecstatic. If it came to fruition, I would hope we try to get more athletic in the front court with a Chatfield replacement.

With that said, I would be surprised if Dix ends up in Ames. Did TJ even recruit him out of high school? If not, I cant imagine Dix took that well as the #1 recruit in the state. Did he play AAU ball with Devries at all? Indiana/Creighton would probably be my front runners for him.
