One of these p5 openings needs to get filled and then the domino's will start falling. Seems like the aftershocks could leave a school like WV coming open after the other big jobs have been filled. I think they would still get someone good but being behind two or three weeks in the portal can be a big deal. Both in terms of who is available and how much they cost.

There could be a couple more opening-
If Barnes retires at Tennessee
Texas fires Terry
OU moves on from Moser etc

The way Iowa fans think, they believe they will get Kelvin Sampson as head coach and Huggy as an assistant. EVERYONE wants to be at Iowa.

Chad L actually wrote that Iowa should contact Brad Stevens since Beth worked with him at Butler. He admitted it wasn't likely, but still....

Man, Iowa fans think their Athletic Department is made of actual gold. Thamel reported Iowa is tight on funds and then someone called up Leistikow and said Iowa doing just fine...sure okay. Iowa Athletics has a $50M loan to repay in 15 years but has barely paid since 2020/21. They have to settle roughly $12M worth of lawsuits over the last 5 years. They've paid for a major renovation to Kinnick. They have said they will fund Revenue Sharing fully at $21M/yr. They lost this past year on Men's Basketball revenue with only 5k fans showing up. They will also have to pay $4M for Frans buyout...and they think Iowa still has money for another $4M buyout, $4M to pay DeVries, and more to pay staff...right...

I just keep thinking about last year the USC job ended up creating an opening at BYU after two other big time jobs got filled. Kentucky and Arkansas put two entirely new rosters together, which inflated NIL numbers. It's always been chaos but the transfer portal adds another layer to it that magnifies everything.

I don't really blame Iowa for turning down the NIT and Crown, if they have their guy in mind, they might as well move quick and get started on a roster. Those two tournaments are going to have a hard time filling spots soon, especially with The Crown being played the last week in March.

The sooner we all accept that that loan isn't at all a barrier to what they do and that it'll most likely never paid back, the more realistic this discussion will be.

Money isn't going to be an obstacle for this hire or the hire when Kirk retires.

Given the MWC lack of tournament success recently, I'm hesitant to roll with CSU in my picks.

It’ll be handled the same way ASU handled their debt

Testifying
Is Huggins straight up done?
I mean, why wouldn't Cincy fire Miller and hire him?

Still gotta prove himself but Medved to me could be a better hire in the big ten than DeVries.
DeVries’s will garner better support from the boosters than Fran imo, and likely better than Medved can at Minn

With NIL and player revenue era, I don’t think Minn has the upside it once did, back when the ceiling was because it has the highest ratio of college players produced per D1 university in the state. Players will go where they can get paid
