Ladies and gents

Excellent team win. Kansas tried to make it a rock fight and we killed them. our three bigs really dominated them inside. we really missed Milan’s ability to stretch the floor and it’s definitely a concern going forward. Teams are really going to pack it in on us.
What a shocking development.

Even in the heyday of Larry, and the Fred years, when they were beating KU fairly often, KU ALWAYS had the best big. Pollard, Chenowith, Simien, LaFrentz, Collison... you almost take it as a given they will be bigger and better than you inside.

But not this year. Adams is a great defender, but he is not a monster 5. And HD is 'just' a scorer really, he isn't the big bruising rebounding defender that say Wayne Simien was.

Dishon picked a GREAT night to ball out. You can see him improving and getting comfortable- like he is letting the clutch out on himself.

There are a lot of great things to watch with this team, but I think my favorite, is ISU's ability to just lock down the last 5-7 minutes of the game. If you are an opposing team and hit that 8 minute mark and are not up by 10 or more, or even losing at that point. It has to be somewhat worrying. I just don't remember ever seeing a team be able to close out a game like ISU this year.

Last night I just kept thinking around the 8 minute mark, "Ugh, this is still too close, I don't like it." Then the game is over and you look at the score and we won by 17. This especially struck me in the Utah game. Same thing, 8 minute mark I was worried we just werent pulling away and I kept feeling that way until I finally relaxed, paid better attention to the score and in the last minute as was like, "Wait, we're up 20?"

The team is mentally gone… I’m not sure what it will take to get them back. It doesn’t matter what you do if the shots don’t fall. The offense just can’t move the ball well anymore … maybe the scouts have figured us out… the team is completely different than a week ago. Let’s see what they are made of…

I think having a stud shooter like Milan out is bigger than we thought. Puts more pressure and defenders on Curt, Keshon and Lipsey. Plus lipsey isn’t shooting his best with a banged up hand… dude is an absolute warrior that is battling through pain. He grabs that hand almost every time back down to defense.

When heise and Jackson are on the floor the other team can ease off them and guard the other 3 tighter and double up. As we saw last night.

I just pray we get Mommy back before Houston AND he’s good. No use reinjurying and missing him for tourney time.

Let’s all get behind these guys

I like Milan as much as anyone, but lets not forget he cooled off a little. He was averaging less than 7.5 points/game the last 5 games. And against Utah he had 2. It's not like he was shooting lights out. I really hope they don't rush him back from injury and make it worse.

He might have cooled off pre injury, but opposing Defenses had to scheme for him. When you rollout Heise or Chatfield onto the floor in his place that is a non threat from the 3 point line, you have an extra defender you can shift around to double team as necessary.

Agreed. I'm just doing the usual ISU be negative about everything to keep my expectations low for when he's back.

Mental stuff can come back pretty quickly if they made a couple shots. Basketball is so much head games. If they just start making a couple shots to start the game, they get full confidence.

The sad thing is that just normal shooting percentages make these games completely different … even from the line.

He was 40% from 3 in the 4 conference games he played, teams can guard us different now with no CuJo coming off the bench.

It's more than just how teams are guarding us. We don't move the ball well, over dribble, don't move enough without the ball, are lazy off screen pick and roll situations and have no one hunting shots with confidence. It's almost like they just take turns to see who can actually make a shot that night. Jefferson is a black hole when he gets the ball down low too. Oh and offensive rebounding is terrible. Besides that we're just fine.

The mental part seems rather interesting after last night too actually. There was a couple times it looked like CuJo just said "nothing is going in, so **** it Im going to toss it up whether its a good shot or not"
