Battles BBQ Sauce

Ok. Bought both the regular and spicy Sauce Slingers because we have some Ruffles.
As soon as I opened the bottles I smelled the old Hayward Battles. Like, instantly.

Taste is spot on. (I always did a 2/3 spicy to 1/3 regular)
God dammit. Now we are having BBQ tonight.

I thought it looked a little too vinegary from the bottle, and maybe it's just a little thinner than I remember but not by much.
But the taste....and the smell are spot on. Seriously smells EXACTLY like the old place.

Sitting in Battle’s, scarfing food I didn’t fully appreciate at the time, and getting scolded by my dad about why I’m failing all my classes on a random Tuesday every November and March… those were the days.

All I knew was a large beef on onion and my dad ordered ribs once and I was like "I can't wait until I can afford ribs regularly (LOL)."
IIRC, my mom would get the chicken dinners when they were a special, and those were extremely fair priced.

Right? Ribs for lunch? What are you a king!

One of my first memories of Ames was being taken to the old, tiny, dirty Battles. Probably 2002 or so. It was very similar to some of my favorite places in Chicago. So I moved here!

We got some bottles recently as well, and had the same experience. Heavenly.

I bought sauce slingers when they first came out with it, and it was way too thin. To the point of being runny. I wonder if they’ve thickened it any because although the taste was spot on the consistency kind of ruined it.

Yeah maybe they've thickened it a little? I would probably still prefer it just a little thicker.
The taste is definitely there.

I think it's a home operation so I'll bear with them and support them if I see it on the shelf.
