Heisman

He was great. Impressive when the other team knew he was getting the ball. The Missouri game was one of the best rushing performances in NCAA history. A lot of the games he was going over 100yds late in games in blowout loses though. I was there.
"I was there" too, as I'm sure were lot of posters here. You're acting like you're the only poster on Cyclonefanatic.com older than 30.

Can't find game logs but 1996 Florida scored 53% of their 559 regular-season points against teams with losing records. I'm sure Wuerffel put up plenty of his yards and TDs against sub-elite competition in those games.

53%? I thought you were making a point. So basically the other 50% were against good teams? How was Waurfell vs Tennessee and them? I'm guessing pretty good

So 138 yards in one game makes it a thing all season?

How did he get OPOY if it was all against back ups?

He didn't have 225 yards against #14 KSU? A 35-20 game?

That KSU game was 28-10 at half. So no, it wasn’t close

The point is everyone plays games/snaps/etc. against mismatched opponents but you only want to penalize Davis for this.

Another one for the Ignore list.

Nobody is penalizing him. They are saying Wuerfell was better. This isn't hard. He was the most efficient passer in NCAA history. Byron Hanspard won the Doak Walker that year. Should have went to Davis for sure.

Maybe I've been hit on the head a few too many times or my love of rum and coke has finally caught up to me... but once my heart starts beating... ae you talking DANNY WUERFEL?

I'm not saying Troy was more deserving but I've never seen a more wet paper sack win the Heisman trophy more than Wuerfel. Might be a great dude. IDK. But in terms of winning awards ... wow.

Colt Brennan (RIP) held the NCAA record for passing effeciency. Simila offense. I don't think anyone thinks he was a Heisman trophy winner though he was invited

Then why hadn't any Florida QB before him or after him? He owned the record books. He was good even by Florida standards. No Miami or FSU QB could even match his numbers.

Maybe, uh, well... Steve Spurrier left? Just a guess. And then Florida's not exactly run the run and shoot, free willy offense. Urban's the closest they've come to that and it ain't that close

Spurrier coached there several years. He was better than Shane Mathews or any. He was more efficient than anyone in college football history. How many other of Spurriers QBs can say that?

Jfc dude here is the game splits from his career. . He has most of his yds in 4 games. Honestly other than like a handful of games he averages like 120ypg. I'm sure nostalgia makes it seem like a lot more. I get it.

Those splits are from 1995, not 96. Or they are incomplete.
