it really blows my mind that there isn’t a back-up there, especially as easy it would be for one of those old dudes to get wiped out by 2 NFL players barreling into him.

Signing with Detroit worked out very well for David.
As it did for Detroit.
Bears radio said Montgomery averaged more yards from scrimmage per game with the Bears.

Perhaps it's true... but 1. he's splitting carries in Detroit; and 2. I would think the yards he's gained in Detroit have been far more significant than in Chicago; 3. and that's not mentioning what kind of mentor he's been for Gibbs, whom the two have basically become brothers.

It wouldn’t shock me if he was on the sideline Saturday if Dan Campbell gives them the weekend off since they’re playing today
I'm not sure they'll get the weekend off because the Lions host GB next Thursday, so it's not the typical 10-day break after a Thursday game (they get that the following week in preparation for Buffalo).
