MLB: ***2026 MLB Season Thread***

Assault seems like a stretch. And the Cubs fans behavior towards Bartman was absolutely disgusting.

What they did to Bartman was way worse than how the media/public is treating these Yankee fans. It actually shows improvement in humanity

I think it falls under the legal definition of assault.

Assault is generally defined as an intentional act that puts another person in reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact.

Dodgers have enough good pitching to close this out? Heart of the line-up coming up.

Yankees defense costing them the game.
Cost them both of Cole's starts. Soto had major issues that blew what should have been a shutout in game 1 and I realize the box score only says 3 but they've had 5 errors in this game. That's the difference between being up 3-2 headed back to LA and watching the Dodgers celebrate the title on your field.

Outside Game 4 their offense has been as poor as the defense. You can't have 9 walks and 8 hits in 8 innings and have 6 runs to show for it.

Dodgers in 6 is my prediction.

Glad I was wrong! Thank you Yankees for playing terrible defense!

Seriously though, I don't know that I've ever seen such a bad defensive team and bad base running team make the World Series. The mental errors were staggering. The Yanks have a ton of power and good-ish pitching, but the holes on their roster are absolutely glaring.

What holes are you referring to? They have one of the most talented and highly paid rosters in baseball. Just can’t translate regular season play to the postseason.
Their bonehead play in the WS was fun to watch, however.

Judge and Otahni seemed pretty much no existent the whole series.

Smoltz repeatedly said throughout the entire series that they were statistically one of if not the worst base running team in baseball, which they showed in the series. They also have major defensive issues and ranked toward the bottom of the league in errors per game. I believe they were something like bottom 5 last I looked.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, their three bad plays involved SS, CF, and P.. Two errors by gold gloves and a pitcher taking a bad angle
No excuse for the baserunning though, as it has been little league level

I do support keeping Cole.

I see the Yank's bought out Rizzo. Also support that. Wonder if Rizzo will retire now? He's been a shell of his former self the last two season and missed 120 games over the last two seasons. Yanks will need a 1st baseman unless they think the kid catcher they are trying to convert to 1st can do it. They essentially have no 1st baseman prospects in their system.

And, not thinking they can afford Soto with their current salary, "afford" meaning I don't think owner boy will spend the money after shelling out for Judge and keeping Cole. Probably build a team good enough to make the wildcard, maybe.

Sounds like this guy is going to be posted this winter and the Dodgers are favored to sign him. Has some nasty stuff:

It's like Japan is their personal developmental league. How big will their salary have to be to add Soto and every top player in Japan? The luxury tax will be huge.

Randomly thought of a Dodger great when I read that some Yank kid was tearing up the fall league with stolen bases.

Here's the stolen base guy when I was a kid.
