Oklahoma Sucking

I mean who has Texas beaten that is any good? Michigan? Alabama is .500 in the SEC.

I couldn't believe the spread on the OU/Ole Miss. 20! OU is a 20 point dog to a team that is below .500 in the conference. Wild stuff.

I took the over. Kiffin won’t hesitate to run up the score if given the chance. And that OU secondary will likely give him that chance.

The SEC/Big 10 schools have so much money now that their coach's leashes and honeymoon periods will get shorter and shorter. Fast rising coaches can cash in AND destroy their careers at the same time.

The emphasis on winning above all else goes up proportionately to these schools' annual budgets. Gives me confidence we won't ever see Matt Campbell coaching in either conference.

Rich losers. Is that what you wanted to become, Joe Castiglione? Oh wait, I guess you already were a rich loser.

That’s the thing though. In today’s CFB, are they rich? They have the same TV money as the teams in the SEC. Do they have a wealthy alumni base that’s willing to drop stupid amounts of NIL money like Texas does?

And those coaches could pull a Hoiberg. Get paid and be miserable for a couple of years. Then go back down and coach a low stress position where you want without having to worry about the money.

I think you’re going to see a lot of P2 “washouts” have a lot of success in the G5 or even Big12 / ACC going forward. Coaching a P2 is just different and some coaches just do better at a lower level and can run a developmental program that’ll perform above a P2 with much more recruiting talent.

I think you just described our coach. :)

Yep. But he’s so far been the exception where he hasn’t been lured by the paycheck to go into a top program or NFL. So many coaches have done that and then realized the fanbases want to buy a team, not develop one.

Seeing Oklahoma get more 11 AM games in their new conference

They've been good but I can't remember the last scary OU team.

Them being bad/mediocre isn't because of conference. Big Game Bob had some weirdness with historically talented teams after winning a natty and then Riley had a house of cards with guys like Murray and Lamb on the way to now.

These 'see what happens when you switch conferences?' threads mixed with 'why aren't more Big 12 teams in consideration for the CFP!?' don't line up very well.

They were well on their way to being a middle of the road Big 12 team, so yeah definitely. Texas not so much.

I don't recall if it was post-Switzer sanctions but they were pretty irrelevant in the 90s in the Big 8/12...so yeah it's not just the conference.

They have a thread on their forum blaming the Big 12 for their season. They said they got soft playing and dominating the Big 12.
Boomer!
I think they should vacate all of their victories and trophies from the Big XII Era.
Sooner!

Funny considering they didn't even make the Big 12 championship game last year. Their downward trajectory started when Riley left.

The irony about all of this shaudenfreude is that an OU win today over OM could be good for ISU down the road by knocking OM out of the CFP at-large pool. I will not lose any sleep regardless of who wins this game.
