NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

I don't know that they will add a WR of any significance. I bet if anything happens it will be closer to the trade deadline.
The trade deadline is Nov. 5th, so with their bye week this week they have 3 more games before the deadline, @ SF, @ Raiders and home to TB. Plenty of time to work out a trade for the stretch run. You have to think during that time teams that are out of it will start looking to retool for next season, teams like the Browns, Bengals and Rams that are going no where this season, and would be willing to get out of a high priced contract and pick up a draft pick for 2025.

That's a possibility only if KC has cap space to take on a big contract which they probably don't without moving or restructuring some of their contracts as well. The NFL cap is so complicated so I am just going off these sites hoping it's accurate: 2024 NFL Team Salary Cap Tracker (spotrac.com) NFL Salary Cap Space | Over The Cap They have the Chiefs with the 4th or 5th least amount of cap space with a number somewhere close to $4 mil available.

The Athletic listed the players the Chiefs could get and still stay under the cap, they listed players like Cooper from Cleveland, Johnson and Thielen from Carolina and few others. We also have to remember each week into the season, the contract does go down, making each of them more affordable.

You have to think of cap space, what they would be willing to take on as far as future contract which i am guessing is they would prefer a player in his last year, fit both in terms of culture and ability to pick up the offense quickly and then also, teams that are willing to trade to make the Chiefs better. The options are going to be very limited. And if they keep winning and improving. There is also going to be less incentive on the Chiefs part.

Bills released MVS. Wonder if they take the easy way out and re-sign him for WR depth.

Chiefs continue to win. Hardman and Gray with big days. Hunt kept grinding and got yards when needed. Mahomes with the big run and the two Ints weren't on him so I am not worried about those. Just amazing what they continue to do with a shell of what they expected on offense. Hope Pacheco can get back around week 9-10. Feel like they will have a good tandem in Pacheco and Hunt and then Perrine with some snaps as a receiving back. Hopefully JuJu can come back for next week.
Only bad part was potentially losing Watson for awhile at corner.

Hopkins supposedly has an MCL tear he is playing with but doesn't want surgery. Hopefully he is healthy and not washed. Still trading a 5th is better than a 2nd for Cupp

Reports were that he hurt it over the summer, but was fine for training camp. Is his knee on borrowed time? Maybe, but an experienced veteran is what we need right now.

Well, if he doesn't pass a physical the trade isn't going through which he wouldn't with an MCL tear. My guess it is a kind of Adams situation. Basically he was a hurt a little but really he just doesn't want to play with his current team and was waiting for a trade.

Hopkins has great hands and although not elite anymore he is still very good. Adds a very reliable target for Patrick.

He's not the burner he once was but he'll be a great red zone target which is exactly what we need at WR right now with all the injuries.

Heck if they can afford it, I would take Hopkins and then try to pick someone else up. KC has 2 third round picks this season, and if there was ever a time to forgot about the future and push all the chips in, its this season. You don't get the opportunity to 3 peat often, now is the time to go for it.

I would love for them to go after Hunter Renfrow. He seems like a great fit for our offense and I believe he is still a free agent since he has not signed with the Raiders. Not sure if there is some issue that is causing him not to sign somewhere.

I am surprised that Hunter has not found a team, he was one of the go to wr's for the Raiders for a couple years and now cannot find a job in the league. There has to be something about the guy that is not being reported.
