Official Utah Utes Welcome Thread

Are we? I mean I get it but if we are looking purely how it relates to us wouldnt we want OSU to take a loss considering we don’t play them?
I had nothing against Utah until they joined the conference and I was exposed to how arrogant their fanbase is considering they haven't won anything in the post-season.

Yes, we are OK State fans tomorrow. I would be fine if ISU and OSU played each other in the conference title game. So OSU can go undefeated and give everyone else an extra loss. That would benefit ISU

That and Utah fans rival Iowa fans with their arrogance... just another reason to be OK State fans tomorrow

I’m a broken record but I guess I’m the only one not writing off a program and fanbase because of some nameless/faceless burner Twitter accounts during realignment.

Even if the fans were fine - I still wouldn't want the new guy to win their very first year in the Big 12.
I don’t want them to win in their first year either just to beat the teams we have don’t have a chance to beat. I would hate to finish a game behind OSU with no shot to beat them.

On the flip side, Utah likely isn’t losing if they get by this one other than that trip to Orlando (I think they lose there honestly) at the very end. I love our team, but we aren’t winning in Salt Lake City. And that’s because nobody wins there.

The only way I will be ok with Utah winning the league is if they go on and win the natty for the conference.

There’s no way they do that with a quarterback made of glass
I don’t think they will either. I was laying down the only way I would accept them winning the conference.

Rising making it through the season is the only way they will win the league.

@nrg4isu How is my statement dumb? Utah’s record at Rice-Eccles is like 32-3 since 2018. Have to get the exact record, but it’s pretty staggering.

If Rising is out, then we have a chance. But I’m not just assuming he will be hurt for our game out there.

It's dumb because of the attitude. Guess we shouldn't even make the trip if we're not winning there.

We all remember the Shakey Smithson game and know Utah is good. It's not the same thing, but before we beat BYU last year they had some crazy long stretch of home wins at night or something. Point is, have some positivity. We've done crazier things than a win at Utah would be.

I don’t play on the team man. This is a fan message board. The team will absolutely and should absolutely think they can win every game. What I, you or anyone else on here thinks doesn’t matter in the slightest. It’s just an educated opinion, and I even clarified that is assuming Rising plays. Hell, if you want to call me negative and have some faith, I think we win 10 games this year.

Edit: Just double-checked on that BYU fact. They were so good at home at night that just several months before we beat them at night there they lost to the mighty East Carolina Pirates.

There’s been like 3 Big 12 team go undefeated in conference play since 2007. Teams will slip up. The last team (TCU) needed multiple miracles to do so. I’m confident they’ll lose 1-2 games.

This is same thing as “we can’t look ahead, just take it one week at a time” what we think or do has zero impact. It’s dumb.

Oh we can win there no doubt. To me, that late in the season, it mostly comes down to injuries.

You're right, we're just people on message boards with opinions. My opinion is that it's pretty dumb to say "We aren't winning at Utah".

Haha. :D Yet we have a built-in level of humility honed by years of frustration. IF we ever sustained even very 'gooditude', or some years of greatness, I think that humility would still be there for most of us.

The not too distant memories are hard to forget.

I know we are supposed to be good in hoops this yr, but I really don't like talking about it. Don't want to jinx it.

Cool. I think you more so disagree with my comment because my comment is not some off the cuff opinion. It’s based on actual evidence in how good Utah is at home. That’s all. I think Utah loses at UCF because that’s also another tough place to play.

One of Utah’s three losses since 2018 was in the Covid season to USC when there were no fans, so really it’s two legit home losses since 2018 and one was to #8 Oregon last year.

Of course anything can happen. I am stating I don’t think we win out there if Rising is healthy. Even though he’s injury prone, to bank on him being hurt when we go there is also just as stupid.

I don’t think they go undefeated. I think they lose at UCF. But I think Okie State trips up a couple of times at least, as I am not that impressed with them yet. If Utah wins tomorrow and then only loses to UCF (just my guess) then that’s one spot in the title game taken. Of course we could win out there, but it’s the hardest road game in the conference.

I only disagree with the whole “being that late in the year and mostly coming down to injuries”. Just because Rising has been injury prone doesn’t mean he’s going to be out that game. That’s not how it works. Sure, if he’s out then I would say we actually win that game. I am not basing predictions on whether a player is injured or not. That’s bizarre because you can only take teams at face value and the known. And right now Rising is not out for the year unless that news broke and I missed it.

I agree with you we CAN win there, I am just predicting we won’t and apparently that’s really dumb to predict something that nobody knows the outcome to.
