Sounds like propaganda. And we know that never happens. But don't forget about that wildcard mystery stat that the committee will seemingly pull out of their a$$ to justify their mission of getting the 12 bestbrandsteams into the playoffs. Not only will it be the first time anyone has ever heard of this stat, but it will be the talk of all college football. Every ESPN show will be singing songs about it's importance....until it does it's job and gets the desired SEC/Big 10 team in over the lowly Big 12 team. And then that stat will disintegrate back to the depths of data oblivion. Never to be heard from again, or at least until the SEC or Big 10 needs it again.
Yeah, this has been, by far, the biggest headscratcher relative to B12 interest in UConn. Why in the hell is this now popping up after the new Big East deal was announced on 6/27 with Fox, NBC/Peacock and TNT/Max.Fox reportedly opposes UConn joining Big 12

My thought too. I would be curious if UConn gave the go ahead for the big east deal. Did they sign a GOR? If Fox contributes any money toward B12 payouts to UConn, they will and should get sued by the Big East, NBC/Peacock and TNT/Max. And that hopefully nips UConn talk to the B12 in the bud for both BB and FB until 2031 when the new Big East deal expires and the B12 FB/BB deals can be bifurcated.
If the Big East GOR is like the B12's, UConn's GOR buyout would be around $42M plus any exit fees. But based on other info I've read, their exit/GOR fee is $15M with 27 months notice. My thought too. Being a fan poll, that really is surprising.Probably can’t put any stock in this, but came across this in a Florida newspaper. I apologize if this has already been posted .

The votes are in! Where should FSU football play next: Big 10, SEC, Big 12 or ACC?
Nearly 5,500 votes came in to decide Florida State's next conference, and it was a close call between the Big 12, Big 10, SEC and staying in the ACC.www.tallahassee.com
Being a fan poll, that really is surprising.
Fans are usually way more delusional. I would expect it to be way more P2 heavy.
I read an article from a Clemson paper this week about which conf should each team in the ACC go to. Choices were SEC or B1G, not B12, and everyone they chose went to those 2, with the exception of the 3 new adds, they dumped them in the B12.
They did at least hint that it was never going to happen. But to even joke that BC or Wake ect would get invited to the B1G or SEC is ridiculous, let alone put it on paper.
Putting Stanford to the Big 12 shows what kind of a joke this can become.Being a fan poll, that really is surprising.

I don’t think there’s going to be many, if any schools with four top 10 losses. Their schedules are never that hard.I will take a wait & see attitude on how the 12 team CFP plays out, but am skeptical it won't be an SEC/Big10 love fest.
If it comes down to identical 10-2 teams and one is in Big10/SEC and other is in ACC/Big12- then I think your resume argument is valid. This is also know on CF as the "just win" argument.
What I am fearful is going to happen based on Big10/SEC statements on automatically having 4 teams and continued use of a selection committee is:
I would have NO issue giving Big10/SEC teams preferential treatment (SOS kicker) in CFP selection over ACC/Big12 teams if we see Big10/SEC dominate ACC/Big12 teams in the first 5 years of the CFP. But the slate should be clean in 2025-2029.
- A team like Iowa State or NC State is going to go 10-2, with both losses in conference.
- A team like Texas, Penn State, LSU or USC is going to go 9-3 or even 8-4 with all their losses to teams that are consensus top 10 teams.
- The selection committee will take the Big10/SEC team over the ACC/Big12 team. The argument by Big10/SEC teams will be SOS & quality of losses. My issue is Texas, PSU, LSU and USC had the opportunity to play the consensus playoff teams during the regular season and lost. Give the 10-2 Big12 & ACC teams a chance to beat the elites.
There have been a lot of posts touting historical SEC dominance of the 4 team CFP. That is PROVEN by National Champions. But that isn't what the arguement of Big10/SEC preferential treatment centers around. The arguement centers around are the 3rd/4th best SEC/Big10 teams AUTOMATICALLY BETTER than the 2nd/3rd best ACC/Big12 teams.
Yeah, the only way that happens is if the Superleague rapture happens and the Big12 essentially becomes the NCAA, with everybody but the big 20-ish brands.Putting Stanford to the Big 12 shows what kind of a joke this can become.
Agree with this only with FSU/Florida taking the place of the Utah schools. It only makes sense to see how fans think.
Clearly a lot of FSU fans are understandably angry at Big Ten/SEC...but we know that would change when the get an invite.
The craziest example of this was a majority of Utah fans acting as if the MWC would be better than Big 12 from their BYU hatred. Obviously few of them would actually make that call, they just said it out of spite.
12 spots among 34 teams, who already played each other during the season. It would water down their “playoffs” significantly. I think there would be nearly as much viewing interest in the playoffs of the not-B1G/SEC group. Then wait til Kentucky fans realize that they are ineligible to compete for the college basketball national title. Instead they get to play for the B1G/SEC title, which would be like a 2nd conference tournament that most people wouldn’t care about.
I’m serious. Sankey and whoever the B1G commish is these days would cry bloody murder if this happened. Right now they get to have their cake and eat it too. So blow it up.

Big 12 presidents pitched on potential UConn addition, but lack of consensus likely to prolong decision
CBS Sports verified that six Big 12 schools are in favor of adding the Huskies if a vote were taken todaywww.cbssports.com
What is interesting is the last part: "None of the current discussions have anything to do with the league's ongoing consideration of public equity money, sources told CBS Sports. That prospective PE partner, CVC, has told the Big 12 it projects its media rights will at least double by 2031."
Double? Call me a skeptic. I figured the media rights were already maxed out, even if we are 6-7 years away.
When things bifurcate, all will be well.Yeah, this has been, by far, the biggest headscratcher relative to B12 interest in UConn. Why in the hell is this now popping up after the new Big East deal was announced on 6/27 with Fox, NBC/Peacock and TNT/Max.

While I believe in live sports being a catalyst for viewers, I think this is mostly true. Big 12 media rights will continue to increase but only proportionally to everyone else. But if CVC is right, what do we need them for?Dennis Dodd article on the UConn interest.

Notice the top 8 are in the big 10 or SEC now.
