Altimore isn't a reporter, he is a management consultant.Altimore and Canzano and even Wilner and Mandel range from bad to awful reporters. But at least they put their names on their reporting and have been held accountable.
You’re getting kind of angry over this…Snowcraig he is an idiot.
I agree with you about anonymous sources. How we went from Woodward and Bernstein having to fight tooth and nail to use anonymous sources to it now being the standard is crazy.I'm not going to defend that West Virginia guy specifically, but you can't point out that he's just throwing sht against the wall in hopes that something sticks without also pointing out that every so-called reporter who's ever covered realignment has done essentially the same thing. All the "professionals" are doing is passing along nuggets that their "sources" feed them, all of whom have agendas of their own.
That these reporters all cite sources without ever getting them to go on the record - the type of journalism typically reserved for matters of actual importance, like national security - tells you everything you need to know about the quality of reporting you're getting.
I am really curious about this and quite honestly have a lot to learn myself. Do you follow him on X? I just want to establish the credibility of your comments here. And does he delete the tweets as you stated? Also, could you provide more input for me? Does he boast about being correct? Do a lot of people on Twitter use those same anonymity tactics? And, are you suggesting, he is just re-Tweeting things to fit a narrative, or to entice an audience? Does Twitter have a platform for making money off falsehoods? (You see, I am ignorant about Twitter). Again, please don't be offended about my inquisition. I am trying to establish whether this person is a viable piece of information. Thanks!MHVer is a microcosm of the problem/danger of social media. Granted, their topics are not of great importance relative to other “reporting” happening on Twitter.
But this is an individual who, I believe, has no sources, and, at best, his/her “sources” are other anonymous user names on message boards/social media. Prior to social media, this person’s reach would be limited so the “reporting” would have minimal impact. He/she has been able to manipulate Twitter though to the tune of 32K followers and probably significantly more viewers. So his/her “reporting” has been amplified to a ridiculous level.
And MHver uses social media tactics to avoid accountability. It’s not their real name, it’s not their livelihood so there’s no risk, they tweet so often and delete tweets that it’s hard to keep receipts on the myriad of reports that are wrong. They hedge their tweets so they can always claim deniability, etc.
So instead of his BS either being ignored or as BS, it’s considered legitimate.
Uh yeah look at his pinned tweet.I am really curious about this and quite honestly have a lot to learn myself. Do you follow him on X? I just want to establish the credibility of your comments here. Yeah I could see how you’d be confused about this guy if you’re not on Twitter. I’ll answer your questions to the best of my abilityI am really curious about this and quite honestly have a lot to learn myself. Do you follow him on X? Wow! Thank you so much. Learned a great deal in such a short read.Yeah I could see how you’d be confused about this guy if you’re not on Twitter. I’ll answer your questions to the best of my ability.
I do not follow him on X , but his profile is public (users can opt to go private so only your followers can look at your tweets). Because he’s public, anyone can go look at his tweets.
I can’t easily prove he deletes Tweets, cause once he deletes them they’re gone unless someone takes a screenshot. He’s not an important enough figure for anyone to do that (which goes back to my accountability piece). But people have claimed he deletes tweets. He does still have countless of wrong tweets up on his feed though.
He boasts about being correct and sourced all the time. His pinned tweet (the first thing people see on his profile) is him boasting about being correct about the USCLA departure before it happened.
Yes a lot of people use anonymous Twitter handles (similar to here). It’s usually not a problem, but certain people can manipulate Twitter to seize influence. Then it becomes a problem (look how many people here value what MHver says).
I don’t think Twitter directly monetarily rewards users for how many followers they have. Outside companies could pay users to promote products/services/ideas due to the number of followers they have. That’s called influencer marketing. But most companies will not use anonymous accounts to do that. I don’t believe MHver is getting a financial benefit doing what he does. I don’t know why he does what he does. He probably gets some twisted satisfaction from all the retweets/fame he has garnered throughout realignment.
The times he's been right is when other sources have already started leaking info. The rest is him just throwing sh!t at the wall. Dude is a fraud.MHver is QAnon for realignment. Always some master plan happening behind the scenes... always plugged in to every development but with a slight plausible deniability or lack of clarity that allows him to back out when it proves wrong - but then there's another new twist that only he can provide. All the while, feeding the egos of Big 12 fans, because everything he "reports" is good for us.
I am skeptical of Pac2 TV valuation being a long-term Big12 accretive. That will never happen, they are outposts that is far from anywhere. Its sucks for them but they will have to settle into the Mountain West and deal with it.
The entire point of all this expansion was to enrich the B10 and SEC along with ESPN and FOX, at the expense of the other conferences and they are not finished yet. No one cares about WSU and OSU except fans and administrations of those schools, all eyes are now on the ACC and what is going to happen there.Honestly, if OSU and WSU end up in a P4 conference then what was the point of breaking up the P12 in the first place? I still think they end up in the MWC when it is all over. Cal and Stanford may join them in a couple years when the ACC blows up.
**** that guyAltimore isn't a reporter, he is a management consultant.
He put together a huge powerpoint of facts and statistics and Really Neat Things (tm). I found that all quite interesting.
Other than being biased in favor of the PAC in general, his main error (and it was a doozy) is he thought academics were much more important than TV money. So all his conclusions were just terribly, terribly wrong.
And then he was a d!ck about it on twitter, both before and after he was wrong.
