***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

Most of the futurecast radars have this breaking up before it hits the Metro. Fingers crossed that's the case.
 
Considering this wasn't a tornado or derecho in Omaha, that's some of the strongest winds I've seen. Can't imagine the tree damage in older areas of the city.
 
When the 2020 derecho hit, wasn't it only like the second or third one in 20 years or something? Now predictions of derechos seem to get dropped pretty regularly.
Average frequency of a derecho impacting Iowa somewhere is essentially every other year.

2020 derecho was just a once a decade strength essentially. An F5 of derecho, to make an imperfect comparison.
 
BIL works for OPPD over 142,000 without power. Needless to say he got called in to work.
Now up to 193000. Old walnut tree went down across lane. Tractor work tomorrow. Snapped it off at ground level. Charging battery for chainsaw and clean up in morning. Missed house and other trees
